JD Edwards EnterpriseOne 8.12 (Tools Release 8.96) Standalone Version
Overview:
EnterpriseOne 8.12 (Tools Release 8.96) Standalone is a self-contained demo of the JD Edwards enterprise software (formerly known as OneWorld) suitable for installing on single PC in order to simulate the both fat-client and thin-client versions of the EnterpriseOne software environment. Although its functionality is limited (e.g., one cannot run batch jobs, or UBEs, without any backend database servers from which to pull the data) it is still a useful tool for acquainting a user with the EnterpriseOne software interface and get accustomed to navigating the environment. The entire software installation, including additional prerequisite software, takes about 7GB of hard disk space. Note that Internet Explorer 7 is not currently supported on this release. Please use Internet Explorer 6.
Installation steps summary:
1. Install Visual Studio .NET 2003 prerequisites.2. Install Visual Studio .NET 2003 C++ compilers.3. Install EnterpriseOne 8.12 base components.4. Install EnterpriseOne 8.12 data components.5. Install Java2 1.4.2_13 Software Development Kit (SDK) – to
C:\E812\system\JDK\ – and omit registering the browser plug-ins.6. Install Microsoft SQL Server 2000 driver for JDBC Service Pack 3.7. Copy jdbj.ini from the \BaseComponents\Client\ folder in the installation location
to C:\E812\system\OC4J\j2ee\home\applications\webclient.ear\webclient\WEB-INF\classes\.
8. Copy msbase.jar, mssqlserver.jar, and msutil.jar from C:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server 2000 Driver for JDBC\lib\ to the newly created C:\E812\system\OC4J\j2ee\home\applib\ folder.
9. Open EnterpriseOne Solution Explorer, and get prompted at login to set up security.
10. Open the software protection code (SPC) generator (\\Tcgsstse01\Softwareload\SPC - Self Service\SPCSelfService.exe, also located on the installation DVD), generate a valid unlock code for the software from the serial number, and enter it, with a license expiration date of 6/30/2019.
11. Log into the 8.12 standalone demo, start the web server, and test it out.
Install Visual Studio .NET 2003 prerequisites. Run setup.exe from the Visual Studio .NET 2003 directory on the disc.
Follow step 1 to install any necessary components before actually installing Visual Studio .NET.
Click on the Visual Studio .NET Prerequisites link.
When prompted for the Prerequisites disk, browse to the Pre folder underneath the Visual Studio .NET folder. Click OK.
Click Update Now.
Click Done.
Follow the next step and click on the Visual Studio. NET link.
Click Add or Remove Features.
Uncheck everything by removing the check mark from the top box (Visual Studio .NET Enterprise Architect)
Then, expand Visual Studio .NET Enterprise Architect > Language Tools sections by clicking the + sign next to each and put a check mark next to Visual C++ .NET. This will install only the C++ compilers from the Visual Studio .NET suite, which is all that EnterpriseOne needs from this application.
Click Update Now.

Double-click on the EnterpriseOne Solution Explorer lightbulb icon on your Windows desktop.
Click OK
Click OK to set up security.
At first login, E1 generates a unique serial nunber, as shown in the window above. Leave this window open, and make note of the serial number. You will need to type that number into a different application next in order to generate a software protection code to unlock the software.
EnterpriseOne (both the standalone demo and deployment server, which is the master license holder for all E1 clients) requires entry of a software protection code (SPC) at first login to unlock the software.
Run the SPCSelfService.exe from the disc.
The SPC generator is also located at:
\\Tcgsstse01\Softwareload\SPC - Self Service\SPCSelfService.exe
At first login, E1 generates a unique serial nunber, as shown in the window above. Enter that number into the GUI of SPCSelfService.exe application.
Make sure Release Level is set to 7 and Number of licenses (for the standalone demo installation) is set to 0.
Click OK to generate a software protection code for your standalone demo version of E1.
Copy and paste each of the three SPC code fields into the Authorization code fields in the EnterpriseOne Security Setup (as shown below). Also, manually change the Expiration Date in the EnterpriseOne Security Setup dialog box to 6/30/2019.
NOTE: Oracle has contracted support for JD Edwards EnterpriseOne software with its customers through 6/30/2019, so if you ever have to generate new SPCs for a customer’s expired licenses on the customer’s EnterpriseOne deployment server, be sure to change the expiration date to 6/30/2019, and ask the customer for the number of licenses, which you will also enter in the dialog box above. You can also look at the license application management application, P98538, to verify the number of licenses the customer is supposed to have.
After verifying that the SPC and Expiration Date are correctly entered, click OK.
Click EXIT on the Software Protection Code V7.2 application.
Now you can log into your installation of the EnterpriseOne standalone demo. The User ID and password are both “demo” (without quotation marks).
Solution Explorer will open. This is the Windows fat client Interface for EnterpriseOne, or E1 (activConsole.exe is the process in Windows’ Task Manager). Read the tip of the day if you want, and click Close to close that box.
Click Tools > EnterpriseOne Menu to start the web server.
A browser window will open. This is the Web Client version of Solution Explorer, accessed through a web browser. There are some notable differences between the interfaces, as well as functionality (e.g., Universal Table Browser, (type utb in the Fast Path blank of the fat client version of Solution Explorer and hit enter to open it directly) can be run only in the Windows fat client; the web-based thin client uses databrowser (type databrowser in the Fast Path blank of the web-based Solution Explorer and hit enter). Databrowser has more functionality.
