FBC MUSIC NOTES: The Sanctuary Choir will sing a call to worship and special music this Sunday morning, January 21st. Orchestra and handbells will play with the hymns. The orchestra will rehearse at 9:15am this Sunday. We will be looking at some NEW music so please be here. We will plan to play sometime in February. Thanks to the handbell choir for the special music you shared last Sunday. It was wonderful! ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

Sanctuary Flowers The flowers in the sanctuary on January 21 are dedicated to the glory of God and placed in loving memory of Alvin Giddens by Joyce Giddens, Johnny and Gail Giddens & family, and Betsy Giddens & family.

Contribution Envelopes Contribution envelopes have been moved and there are more in the Narthex. Please check to see if your box is now in the Narthex on the pew. Some boxes were mailed, but please check! SANCTUARY TEMPERATURE IN THE WINTER Just a reminder that the way our Sanctuary is designed, on MOST COLD Sunday mornings, you will find it a little warmer in the balcony and a little cooler on the floor. Please plan to sit where you are most comfortable. See You Sunday!

Collection Sunday Is Sunday Morning, February 4th! Severe Food Shortage Currently at the Christian Kitchen

The Christian Kitchen is currently experiencing a severe food shortage. They are in desperate need of: cans of soup, cans of fruit with pop-top opening, jelly and mac and cheese. PLEASE Mark your calendars NOW and plan to bring some CANNED GOODS and $1 or MORE donation to give to the Christian Kitchen. This is SUPER BOWL Sunday but more importantly it is a day we can help IMPACT HUNGER IN OUR COMMUNITY! Between now and February 4th, every time you go grocery shopping, please pick up an extra canned good or two. Let’s have our biggest collection ever in 2018!!

Abundance Ministry Thanks for you for keeping this important ministry going. The shelves are empty and for those of you that bring items everything is needed including individually wrapped snack cakes, chips, crackers, Vienna sausage, candy (with sugar or sugar free) drinks (diet & regular), packs of peanuts, etc. You can also give money to this ministry which will be used to buy what is needed. Our Life Care brothers and sisters are so appreciative of their ability to have these special treats. Thank you for your generosity.

Jerry’s Sermon Text 1 Samuel 3:1-10

New International Version (NIV) 3 The boy Samuel ministered before the LORD under Eli. In those days the word of the LORD was rare; there were not many visions. 2 One night, Eli, whose eyes were becoming so weak that he could barely see, was lying down in his usual place. 3 The lamp of God had not yet gone out, and Samuel was lying down in the house of the LORD, where the ark of God was. 4 Then the LORD called Samuel. Samuel answered, “Here I am.” 5 And he ran to Eli and said, “Here I am; you called me.” But Eli said, “I did not call; go back and lie down.” So he went and lay down. 6 Again the LORD called, “Samuel!” And Samuel got up and went to Eli and said, “Here I am; you called me.” “My son,” Eli said, “I did not call; go back and lie down.” 7 Now Samuel did not yet know the LORD: The word of the LORD had not yet been revealed to him. 8 A third time the LORD called, “Samuel!” And Samuel got up and went to Eli and said, “Here I am; you called me.” Then Eli realized that the LORD was calling the boy. 9 So Eli told Samuel, “Go and lie down, and if he calls you, say, ‘Speak, LORD, for your servant is listening.’” So Samuel went and lay down in his place. 10 The LORD came and stood there, calling as at the other times, “Samuel! Samuel!” Then Samuel said, “Speak, for your servant is listening.”
