Jerusalem has great importance because of al Aqsa mosque. This city has a special dignified position in the hearts of the Arab Moslems and Christians due to its holy, cultural and historical places .

Jeruslem was built by the Jebusites in the year 2500-3000 BC. It is a 35 centuries aged city , and it is about 750 high from the surface of the sea .

Jerusalem is surrounded by a 4 Km long wall which is one of the most significant historical and archaeological features that was built during the ottoman era by the ottoman Sultan Suleiman .

The oldest name for Jerusalem is “yabous” and it was named after the Jebusites .

Then it was named Aursalm, meaning the village of peace that king sadiq called

Then it was known by it is canaanite name “Iroshalim “

Then During the Roman era it was called “Ailia” it was also named “shaleem” which means peace but it well known and recent name is “ALquds “

There are seven gates for the old city of Jerusalem which are :Damascus Gate .Jaffa Gate ,New Gate ,Dung Gate ……..
