Jesus Christ’s Example Teaches me how to Live 3rd & 4th Week Sharing Time idea for July

GAK Pictures-listed on the ‘Trying to be like Jesus cards’

A large dice or numbers 1-6 on pieces of paper and placed in a bucket

For this sharing time you will be playing a game that will teach the children about Jesus Christ and how we can

follow his example. You will split the children into two teams or have everyone on the same team. Take turns

having the children roll a dice or pick a numbered piece of paper to determine how many spaces they will move

on the board. Once they land on a square they will either have to:

Sing:Sing:Sing:Sing: when landed on this square they will have to sing a primary song Scripture Search:Scripture Search:Scripture Search:Scripture Search: When they land on this square they will be given a scripture reference and a question that

they must answer.

to them. Then you will ask them the question on the card that they will need to answer. What would you doWhat would you doWhat would you doWhat would you do: When they land on these you will read a short scenario to them, then they will have to

answer the question.

There are also squares that have good/bad scenarios that will tell them to move forward so many spaces or

move back so many spaces.

-For the ‘Trying to be like Jesus’ you could do this 2 ways. 1.) Have the pictures posted on a board. Have each -

Choose something to represent each team that you can move along the board game. You could have a a little

boy/girl, a footprint, a smiley face, anything you want.

story (what you’re going to say) typed up. When a child lands on one of these squares pick one of the stories

and read it aloud. Have the child answer the question and then choose what picture it goes with. OR

2.) Have each picture and as they land on the squares choose one to read to the children. As you read the story

show the children the picture. Then have the child answer the question on the card.

Begin your sharing time by telling the children that we are all on a journey, a journey back to our Heavenly

Father. But there are certain things that we must do and certain things that we must live by. While Jesus Christ

was on the earth He showed us the way to live. He was the perfect example. He did many great things while on

the earth, and when we learn about Jesus Christ and the things that he did we can know how we should live to

return to our Father in Heaven. Tell them that today we are going to learn about Jesus Christ and the great

example He is. We will also learn how we can follow in His footsteps and know how we should live.

Show the children the board game. Explain the rules and each of the squares to the children. Choose a child to

go first and have him/her roll the dice.

After each square explain to the children why that (whatever the square was talking about) is being like Jesus.

Explain to them why these things are important and by doing these things we are following Jesus Christ’s

example. Once someone has reached the end or when your time is up bear testimony of Jesus Christ and the

importance of following His example.
