Nursery

There is an attended nursery available for children Birth through 24 months in Room PK 100. We also have a training room available at the back of the Auditorium.

Church Busy Bags

There are bags located at the Welcome Center for your child to use during worship services. These bags contain some quiet activities during worship. Please return the bags at the end of each service.

Bible Study and Coffee

There are Bible classes for all ages and a good variety of adult

studies available. Please join us for Bible study from 9:45 –

10:30. A list of topics and locations is found at the Welcome

Center. If you have questions or need help finding a particular

class, please ask. Coffee is available down the hall at the kitchen.

Intro: Mark ch. 1 revealed the incredible power of Jesus to heal, cast out demons, and to restore health and joy. In ch. 2,

Mark reveals one more aspect of Jesus’ power, the power to forgive sins.

Mark depicts Jesus as not merely One who would forgive sins, but One who was the “friend of sinners.” Jesus was

One who:

• Could heal not only the ____________ but also the ____________.

• _____________________ the company of sinful, hurting, and broken people.

Verse 12 is a beautiful summary. After healing a lame man and forgiving his sins,

Mark records, “All the people were amazed and were glorifying God saying, we have never seen anything like this!”

I. Jesus, The God Of Forgiveness. Mark 2:2-12

1. Jesus was teaching a packed house. A paralyzed man was brought to Him for healing; however, they couldn’t

get to Jesus. But they would not be __________________!

2. The first thing Jesus said to the paralyzed man was not, “So what is your problem?” Rather, it was, “Your

________________ are ____________________.”

3. The religious leaders were incensed, saying, “Who can forgive sins but ____________ ______________!” (Vs.

7-8) What they didn’t know, and would never admit, was that God WAS right there with them, and they

missed it!

4. Don’t miss these important lessons for us from this remarkable story!

II. Jesus, Friend of Sinners. Mark 2:13-17

1. Jesus invited Levi (Matthew) to come and follow Him, even though tax collectors were literally despised!

Would you have chosen Levi??

A.) Jesus never saw only the mistakes or flaws in people, He saw their _______________________! He

still does!

B.) Do we dismiss people too quickly, thinking they are not interested? Yet, Jesus

2. Today, Jesus is still the friend of sinners and He _______________ for your friendship and mine!
