your 5.1 surround music files directly from the Portal in both stereo or 5.1 surround either in your computer or exter-

nally to your home theater system - or you can create and burn your own DVD music albums that will play in any

    DVD or BluRay player.

    Installation: Mac or PC:

Double click on the Jhana Music Portal Installer and follow the prompts to install your software.

    Important - On a Mac:

The Mac version of the Jhana Music Portal installer places a small file titled sense.txt on the

root level of your hard drive. This file is necessary for the Portal to function correctly. Do not

move or delete it. If this file is moved or deleted, the Portal will not function properly.

    SET UP:

Let's start with the buttons you need to set up first:

    "Audio" Menu button

Clicking on the Audio button opens your Audio set up menu. Before using the Portal you will need to set up thismenu. You will be setting three things: 1 - your audio outputs, 2 - the location of your file libraries and temp files, and 3 - which CD/DVD burner in your computer you will use to burn DVD albums. The Mac version looks like this:

    2 0 0 9 - 2 0 1 1 J h a n a M u s i c G r o u p! J h a n a M u s i c P o r t a l U s e r M a n u a l

The PC version will look like this:

    Audio Outputs:

Note the "Audio Output Device" on the upper left side. This is where you set the outputs of your computer fromwhich the Portal will play audio from the built in player. There are three sets of two channel outputs. Left/Right -Center/Lfe (low frequency effects channel) - and Left Rear/Right Rear (left surround/right surround) Each set ofoutput pairs has a pull down menu. Pull down the menu and you will see the possible outputs available in yourcomputer for that pair of outputs. If you want to listen to your 5.1 surround music files on your computer in stereohave a stereo sound card, assign each output as follows for Mac or PC:

    2 0 0 9 - 2 0 1 1 J h a n a M u s i c G r o u p! J h a n a M u s i c P o r t a l U s e r M a n u a l

    For Mac: Listening in stereo:

Set only the first pair of outputs L/R to Built-In Output. Set the other outputs to None. Make sure the DecodeAC3 Files is checked so that the files will play in your computer. The Portal will down-mix your 5.1 files to stereo.

    For PC: Listening in Stereo:

Set all three of the output pairs to the same audio output. Make the Enable AC3 Decode box is checked so the Por-tal can play your files. The Portal will down-mix your 5.1 files to stereo.

For Mac: Listening in 5.1 surround:

To listen in 5.1 surround from your Mac, you must have a 5.1 audio output device connected to your computer. Macsdo not have internal 5.1 outputs, but if you have an external 5.1 channel output box - such as an M-Audio Fast TrackUltra or a MOTU Ultralite Mk3, you can listen to your 5.1 surround music files directly played from your computer. On a Mac for this application, set your output pairs to appropriate corresponding outputs on your external outputdevice. Make sure the Decode AC3 Files box is checked so the Portal can play your files. (note: built in outputsabove are just illustrating an example of setting all outputs. Macs do not support 5.1 output internally.)

For PC: Listening in 5.1 surround:

To listen in 5.1 surround from your PC, you must have a either a 5.1 output device connected to your computer -such as an M-Audio Fast Track Ultra or a MOTU Ultralite Mk3 - or a 5.1 surround capable sound card. If you haveeither of these installed in your PC, you can listen to your 5.1 surround music files directly played from your com-puter. On a PC, for this application, set your output pairs to appropriate corresponding outputs on your externaloutput device or sound card. Make sure the Decode AC3 Files box is checked so the Portal can play your files.

For Mac and PC: Listening in 5.1 surround to an external decoder and home theater system:

If you have a digital (spdif) output on your computer, the Portal software can stream your 5.1 surround music filesfrom this output to an external decoder and home theater system. Your computer must have a digital audio output,(typically an optical output) and be connected via a digital cable to the digital input of your home theater system. Todo this, set the Portal outputs as illustrated below. For a Mac, set only the L/R outputs to Built-In Output. Set theother outputs to None. Make sure you un-check the Decode AC3 Files so that the Portal does play your 5.1 sur-round files internally, but instead will stream the file to the digital output of your computer. (note: for PC version,PC settings should be similar - set the output to your PCs digital output, and un-check the Enable AC3 Decode

    box)
