In 2004, low-cost andjional carrier net profits were $740 million and cargo reported net profit was $832 million.

His popularity has definitely grown since startingExperienceAviatlon. He hasreceived many offers to work withdifferent airlines induding the military. However his goal is to workwith the kids in the community.

Want Success at FMU? Get Your CSI Reportby Dr. Woody WilsonDirector, Counseling Center

Do you know one of the single, greatest, non’finaneial causesfor failure and dropout at FMU?Ironically, it is also one of the mostpowecfiul reasons why student stayat FMU and do well! Give up? Theanswer may surprise you -Yourfiends! Who you hang with andhow much time you spend withthem! Or better stated- Peer rela’dons and what kind ofinfluencethey have on you!

That’s right, you’ve heard Itbefore - hang with the wrongcrowd and you will most likely notbe around here very long. It’s moe! Why? Because the wrong crowd orcertain friends have the wtong values! They prioritize having fun, soelalizln& being cool, being pops"lar, hanging out, partying or‘chillin’. Of course, some of thosethings are good to do every nowand then to reduce stress; but ifthey occur everyday and becomemore important to you than yourdesire tofinish college - If theycome before studying and focusingon doing well academically - thengive It a little time and you will begone from FMU,You’ll be a dropoutand most likely on your way to alife of misery and hardship,

Of course, you can blame theschool, or professors, or your roommates or"whatever’, but the realproblem probably lies within you,

You see, every student hasmany qualities, but two of the mostimportant are Sclf’Relianee andSociability, Those qualities and manymore associated with college so,ocess are included in the CollegeStudenr inventory or CSI.This inventory is administered by ThePartnering for Success ProgramPSlto all freshmen duringOrientation weelcA few weeks lanetevery student can get a copy ofthelr’CSI Report’ fsom their advisor.

Anyway the College StudentInventory or CSI measures Self’reliance and defines it as’thedegree that you trust your ownJudgement and make your owndecisions. Low Self-reliance canexpress itself in various ways:spending too much time seekingcompanionship; going along withsocial activities that violate yourvalues; feeling uncomfortable with

the solitude of studying’.Obviously, students with low Self-reliance are followers, not leaders. They are insecure and desperatelywant so be accepted by others -

they want to be seen as cool byothers so theygo along with thecrowd and do foolish things thatthey know riley shouldn’t bedoing, They get kicked out ofschool and give up their lives - justso theyean appearto be cool infont of people they’ve known foronly a few days or weeks!

Similarly the CSI definesSociability as ‘your desires forcompanionship and social entertainment. An above-average levelof sociability has the advantage ofmotivating you to establish friendships and spend a lot of timewith other people, But it can distract you from the main purposeof college, which is learning.Try

to keep your socIal life withinreasonable bounds’. In otherwords, spending a moderateamount of time with friends canhelp establish a good support ncr’work that may keep you Inschool; but if you overdo It, thenyou’ll be spending too much timesocIalizing and not enough timestudying and focusing on school. You’ve got to find a balance!

So, are you they type ofpeson who will go along with friendsand do something irresponsiblejust to impress them? Also, did youcome to college to party or did youcome to get an education? Whydon’t you find out by checking outyour ‘SelfRelianee’ and ‘Sociability’scores on your CS! Report. YourfleshmenAdvisors can give you acopy of your report. Or come bythe I’SP Program located in theCounseling Center for a copy.

It’s better to know nowrather than laterA high Self’Reliance score and an averageSociability score are the best combination, Check yours out!

2 [LcMJc7 USDear Ms. Lucy Lou,

I need some advice. O.k. this Is the deal my boyfriend of three yearsIs telling me that he Is becoming Insecure about our relationship.Seeingthat I am now In college and he is at home he feels that I am going tolose interest, Its becoming stressful to me because I love him and I wantthis to work, butt don’t know what I can do to make him confident.Every time I talk to him It’s always ‘who else you talking to’or ‘Are yousun you want to be with me’. lie has even gone as tar as to say that if Ilove him I would come back home and go to a community college! Imean at this point in time I am trying to stay focus on my education but Ialso love him as I stated earlier,What is a sister to do?

Dear Ms. Confused,Girl your man Is insane! Not only Is he very insecure about your

relationship, but he Is also sclf.centered. By you attending a communitycollege instead of a university will not solve his problem. He baa to under’stand that right now you are trying to achieve goals In your life that willhave a lasting impression on years to come. Furthennore, it seems asthough he doesn’t trust you because he consistently ask you these ques’lions and a relationship without crust will not last tong. Most intpomtantlyyou need to remain focus on your education because it Is a necessity inorder for you to become successful In life. See If you can help him tounderstand that and if he doesn’t drop him.Ariy guy who doesn’t takeyour education seriously should not be taken Into consideration.

Letting the truth be told,MS. Lucy Lou
