THE CAPSTONE EXPERIENCE A culminating engineering design experience that enables JMU students to address a real-world need through the application of a design process, design methods, systems thinking, and sustainability perspectives. The experience spans two-years (junior and senior years) with students working in teams of four to six. During the spring students unveil their work during Symposium Day that includes a formal design report and presentation to faculty, peers, industry representatives, and other external community members. For students who meet JMU admissions requirements, but need additional English language support, the International Study

Center (ISC) delivers a customized English language and academic preparation program for undergraduate students to help them

integrate into American university life while enjoying the full Madison experience. Upon successful completion of the International

First Year, students matriculate into their second academic year of undergraduate study. Math and science courses paired with
