Sudbury Neighbourhood Centre

Background Information

Sudbury Neighbourhood Centre is an established charity that has been providing some form of day care services for 35 years. Originally set up in collaboration with three local ecumenical churches – Sudbury Methodist Church, St. Andrews Anglican Church and St. Georges Roman Catholic Church – we are a friendly community day care centre located in the London Borough of Brent, and close to the borders of both Ealing and Harrow.

The clients we cater for include the elderly, lonely, vulnerable and housebound people of all ages and of all faiths (or none), in need of a day out from their home environment, or whose family carers need a day of respite.

Our qualified and experienced carers are on hand to attend to all personal care needs. We have assisted bathing facilities, a hair dressing salon, a Wellbeing Clinic managed by our Wellbeing Nurse, and we provide a range of daily activities and services.

The Centre’s activities and services include a Luncheon Club for all day care clients and others, art classes, computer classes, keep fit, Tai-Chi, music therapy and welfare rights advice.

The majority of our funding used to come from the statutory sector, but this continues to diminish and more of the Centre's clients are privately funded.

Furthermore in recent years the Centre has continually made significant losses and managed this via the use of donations and legacies, which are themselves decreasing.

We are looking for a visionary and enthusiastic leader who will play a crucial role in enabling Sudbury Neighbourhood Centre to develop and evolve its services. This will include reviewing and updating current work practices where necessary and realising new commercial opportunities, for the benefit of the local community.
