February 2015 Job placement rates rise again for Kansas State University students Kansas State University students are landing jobs soon after graduation, according to a university report. Kerri Day Keller, director of the university's Career and Employment Services, notes that 94% of the university's graduates in 20132014 are employed or pursuing advanced degrees. That's up 1% from the previous year's report. An additional 2% of the university's graduates were occupied in other noncareer activities. "There is a lot of scrutiny right now on whether a college degree is worth it," Keller said. "When you look at the fact that our students are getting jobs, and you see the kind of professional jobs that many of our graduates are going into and see the salary statistics, you'll see that our graduates are going on and really making a good investment in their future by getting a degree from Kansas State University." The university's report is based on information collected from students receiving bachelor's, master's and doctoral degrees for more than 3,000 undergraduates and 1,000 postgraduates. Keller said that about 60% of the graduates stayed in Kansas and 77% in the nearby region. The university annually publishes employment and salary statistics of recent graduates, which is available HERE . Students to advocate issues during State Higher Education Day Students at the state universities in Kansas will be in the Kansas State Capitol on Tuesday, February 10, 2015 for State Higher Education Day. During State Higher Education Day, students will be visiting with state legislators on three issues important to their fellow students at all state universities. The students will be appearing before the Kansas Senate Judiciary Committee testifying on Senate Bill 133 and the House Judiciary Committee testifying on House Bill 2198. Job placement rates rise again for Kansas State University studentsKansas State University students are landing jobs soon after graduation according to a university report

In addition the students will advocate for legislation to remove the sales tax on textbooks The students passed a billlast year in the House however were unable to pass the legislation to the Governors desk Finally the students willstress the importance of higher education funding for all of higher education in meetings with members of the KansasLegislature

President Schulz named leaderof NCAA board of governors

Kansas State University President Kirk Schulz is the

new chair of the NCAA board of governors which is

the organizations highestshyranking committee

I am honored with the appointment to chair the board

of governors and I look forward to bringing together

athletics and academics in this leadership role

Schulz said Serving as chair is an opportunity to

strengthen the interconnectivity between

intercollegiate athletics and the campus community

which is key as KshyState becomes a Top 50 public

research university by 2025

The board established Schulz as its newest leader

January 16 during the 2015 NCAA Convention Schulz

will serve as chair until January 2017 and will help to

oversee issues across the association The board of

governors includes 20 presidents and chancellors

from all three divisions

Mitigating Global Challengesfocus of inaugural Henry CGardiner Lecture

In the next 35 years agriculture will have to produce

more food than the world has produced in its history a

part of a team of scientists to first genetically modify

challenges facing agriculture in the coming decades

and the resources needed to achieve food security

Farmers which account for less than 1 of the

population are expected to feed more than 9 billion

people by 2050 while facing limited resources and

changing climate conditions Despite the challenges

that lie ahead Fraley pointed out that the agricultural

industry has already made advances in increasing
