INTRODUCTION TO APPAREL

PRODUCTION

• Apparel production refers to mass manufacturing

of apparel material or garments in an organized

setup or factory.

• Apparel Production is also known as Garment

Production and involves converting fabrics into

apparels or garments.

DEPARTMENTS IN APPAREL

PRODUCTION

• It organizes the raw materials &supplies required for theproduction of apparel.

Merchandising Department

• It preparation of samples for thebuyers.

Sampling Department

• It receiving, issuing andpreservation & maintenance of allthe raw material.

DEPARTMENTThe stores department is concerned with receiving, issuing and

preservation and maintenance of all the raw material required

for uninterrupted and flawless garment production.

It stores fabrics, interlining, fusing, yarns, chalks, pins etc. 10

• To make available a balanced and uninterrupted flow of raw

materials, components, tools, equipment and any other

material needed.

• To provide maintenance materials, spare parts and general

stores as requirements.

• To accept and store scrap and other discarded material as

they arise.

Store Keeper’s Job Function

The task of store keeper relates to safe custody and stocking of

materials, their receipts, issues, and accounting.

Another function is of efficiently and economically providing

the right material at the right time whenever required in the

right condition to all user departments.

Duties and Responsibilities of a

Store Keeper

A Storekeeper has to minimize obsolescence, surplus and scrap

through proper codification, standardization, preservation and

handling.

It is necessary for a store keeper to ensure good housekeeping

so as to minimize the need for material handling.

If needed he has to accept and store scrap and other discarded

materials also.

Issuing of Purchase Requisition

Store Supervision

Unload, pick shelve supplies
