Thelifetimecosttotaxpayersofonedropoutis$292,000.Thecosttosocietyisoneyouthwhoseincrediblefutureisunrealized.WechangethisstorytogetherthroughJAG.

Justonehourperdaywithacaringadultprofessionaleducatorwithcommunitysupportleadsto9outof10dropout-boundstudentssuccessfullyreachinggraduationwithajob,becomingeligibleforpost-secondaryeducation,orqualifyingformilitaryservice. AlabamaJAGhassuccessfullyusedtheNationalJAGModelsince1996topositivelyreach20,000ofourmostvulnerablestudents.TheJAGModelhasbeendevelopedandperfectedover30yearswithindustryvalidationandleadershipfromAmerica’sgovernors,legislators,StateDepartmentsofEducation,community,andindustryleaders.JAGhasidentified33BarrierstoSuccess.Whenfiveormoreofthesebarriersarepresentinthelifeofastudent,graduationprospectsgreatlydiminish.TheJAGprogramoperatesonaschoolcampusledbyaJAGEducationSpecialistserving35-45students.Studentsparticipateeachdayforatleastonehouralongwithsummerservicestohelpstudentsovercomethesebarriers.TheJAGprogramincludes87CurriculumCompetenciesdeliveredinMulti-YearandSeniorYearformats.Anarrayofservicesincludingspecializedclassroominstruction,individualandgroupcounseling,employabilityskillsdevelopment,careerassociation,leadershipexperiences,andjobplacementservicesleadtoon-timegraduationandabrighterfutureforstudents.
