Great-granddaughters
I want to let you know I have moved. I received a call from God, who
informed me that my new home is ready and that I could move in
immediately. You know I have been sending timber, packing up and
getting ready to go; but there were still some final touches.
Well, my new home is finished now, and it is such a beautiful sight to
behold! It is located in a pristine and exclusive estate, and sits behind
glistening, pearly gates. Of course, the streets are paved in elegant gold;
and every day is Worship Sunday. I have lived in many places before, but
no one can compare. There is Peace, Joy, Happiness and Sweet Serenity
everywhere. I have no more pain. I could go on and on about my new
home, but I have to get fitted now for my new robe. I look forward to
seeing you here. My new address is:
Mrs. Cloe Hayes Johnson
1000 Anointed Ones Way
Kingstown, Heaven 31817
PS…I don’t have a telephone number yet, but just dial 1-800-GOD-WAY. If
you can’t remember the number, please look in the Good Book of Life.
He is listed on every page.
With all my love, Cloe
We, the family of the late Cloe Hayes Johnson, would like to thank each of you
for your many acts of kindness rendered to us during our time of sorrow.
Special thanks to Agape Church, Bishop Alvin T. McNair and Mrs. McNair
and Ms. Octavia N. Johnson.

For I am ready to be offered, and the time of my departure is at hand.
I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith:
Henceforth there is laid up for me a crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the
righteous judge, shall give me at that day: and not to me only,
but unto all them also that love his appearing.
II Timothy 4: 6-8 (KJV)
Mrs. Cloe Hayes Johnson, daughter of the
late Mr. Cato Hayes, Jr. and Laura Hall
Hayes was born April 14, 1932 in
Orangeburg, South Carolina. She departed
this earthly life on Saturday, March 18,
2017, surrounded by the love of her family.
At an early age, she gave her life to Christ
and remained faithful for the remainder of her days. She was an active member
of the Agape Church family until her health declined. Mother Johnson, as she was
affectionately known, would walk to church—rain or shine, with her
grandchildren. She also served as a member of the Mothers Board.
Cloe was a devoted mother and grandmother who raised generations of family.
She was the epitome of strength and integrity. She was also an inspiration to
everyone whose path she crossed. Cloe was a hardworking, diligent employee
with the City of Columbia Parks and Recreation, where she remained until she
retired after 30 years of dedicated service.
She was predeceased by her beloved husband, Elijah Johnson; son, Elijah Johnson,
Jr.; two daughters, JoAnn Gantt and Cynthia Turner; brother, Horace Hayes, and
three sisters, Cotell Hayes, Flossie Odom and Maxine Hayes.
Cloe leaves to cherish her fond and precious memory: three daughters: Angela
(Heyward) Pauling of Gaston, South Carolina, Deborah (Charles) Washington and
Ruth Ann Holley, both of Columbia, South Carolina; one son, Elay (Josephine)
Johnson of Columbia, South Carolina; one brother whom she loved and adored,
Rosewill (Linda) Hayes of Charlotte, North Carolina; 17 grandchildren, 30 great-
grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews,
cousins, other loving relatives and friends, all of whom will miss her dearly.
