2.BothofficersinacompetitivegroupoftwogettinganMPfitrep.
Ifyouareinacompetitivegroupoftwo,yourreportingseniorshouldgiveoneofyouanEPandtheotheranMP.Ifhe/shegivesyoubothanMP,itreflectspoorlyonbothofyou.Mostoftenthiswillhappenatanoperationalcommandand/orwhentherearetwoofficerswhoarecompetingbutareinthesamepromotionyeargroup.Makesureyourreportingseniordoesn’ttaketheeasyroadandgiveyoubothan
MP.OneofyoushouldgettheEP,andtheothercangetanMPwithastrongnarrativeexplainingwhy.
3.DecliningfromanEPtoanMPwithoutchangingcompetitivegroups(or“movingtotheleft”).
MostoftenIwouldseethiswhenaresidentwhowasinalargecompetitivegroupwasgivenanEPfitrep.Thenwhentheygraduatefromresidency,theircompetitivegroupshrinksandtheydon’tgetanEPbutareleftwithanMP.
IfIwasyou,I'dfightthislikeadog.Iftheycan'tkeepyouatanEPandyoudidn'tdoanythingwrongtodeservethis,makesurethereasonforyourdropfromanEPtoanMPisclearlyexplainedinthefitrepnarrative.
