Who is John Adair ?
• Graduated from Cambridge University,• Commissioned into the Scots Guards.• Senior lecturer in military history and adviser
in leadership training at the Royal Military Academy Sandhurst.
• In 1979 he was appointed the world’s first Professor of Leadership Studies at the University of Surrey.

• Action-centred or functional.• A simple leadership and management model .• Easy to remember and apply.• Adapt for your own situation.• Must be examined in the whole situation.• Exercising a relevant cluster of roles.

• Adair argued that common perception of leadership as ‘decision making’ was inadequate to describe the range of action required by this complex situation.
• He developed a scheme of leadership on precept and practice in each 8 leadership ‘activities’
