John Newman: ‘Love Me Again’ Video AnalysisWe are analysing this video because it is a twist on a dance record as it is not set in a conventional club. We are hoping to create a video for an upbeat dance track which will challenge the conventions of stereotypical dance music videos. We are using this video as inspiration as it gives the feel of a realistic story, for example, it is set at a working class pool hall.

Slow motion is used at the beginning of the song to match the instrumental as it has a slow beat.

Analysis

The camera zooms out to show the setting of the video to give the audience an instant impression of what it will be like. This video is set at a pool hall giving a feel of a ‘working mans’ class. For example, rope lights around the stage and a basic dance floor. This adds a sense of reality.

Throughout the video, there are random clips of contemporary dancers in silhouette dancing with a spotlight on them. This gives a dramatic feel to the video linking to the lyrics.

Analysis

There are a lot of close-ups of the artist from different angles to show his emotions towards the lyrics.

The costumes of the people in the video are very norm (nothing extravagant) again adding to the realism and theme of the video.
