13 Sept (T) – Caesarea Maritima, Nazareth, Place of the Precipice,Mount Carmel At Caesarea by the Sea, visit an ancient Roman aqueduct andtheatre. See Nazareth, the boyhood home of Jesus (Matthew 2: 23).Visit the Church of the Annunciation and the Synagogue Church, builtby the Crusaders. Enjoy the view from the Mount of Precipice whereLuke describes how those in the synagogue rejected Jesus after Hetaught them. Filled with anger they “led him unto the brow of the hillwhereon their city was built, that they might cast him downheadlong” (Luke 4: 29). Travel to Mt. Carmel, where Elijah defeatedthe Baal prophets (I Kings 18: 19, 40), and visit the monastery atthe top of the mountain. Transfer to your hotel for dinner andovernight in the Galilee.

14 Sept (W) – GalileeWatch the sunrise over the Sea of Galilee where fishermen work thewaters with nets much as in the time of Jesus. Below Mount Arbellies the Valley of the Doves, a natural access route into the lake areaand a route probably used by Jesus as He traveled back and forth toCana and Nazareth. The route was part of the Via Maris, the Way ofthe Sea that ancient travelers used. At Kibbutz Nof Ginosaur, you willlearn about the “Ancient Boat”, a rare example of the kind of boat inwhich Jesus would have sailed. Visit the peaceful Mount ofBeatitudes, which overlooks the Sea of Galilee. On this hill, Jesuspreached the Sermon on the Mount. Stop at Tabgha, where thefeeding of the 5,000 is remembered at the Church of the Loaves andFishes (Luke 9). Also stop at the Chapel of the Primacy, where Peterconfessed his devotion to Christ 3 times (John 21). Ride across thewaters of the Sea of Galilee to explore Capernaum, the center ofJesus’ ministry. Visit the synagogue that stands on the site whereJesus taught. Recall his teaching and preaching the gospel of thekingdom (Matt.4: 13, 23). Return to your hotel for dinner andovernight.

15 Sept (H) – Tel Dan, Caesarea Philippi, Valley of Tears, Chorazim,BethsaidaTravel to the northern part of Israel to visit Tel Dan and see the mudbrick arch constructed in pre-Israelite (Canaanites) times and whereThe House of David fragment from the First Temple Period wasdiscovered. Visit Caesarea Philippi, where Jesus traveled with Hisdisciples and where nearby Peter made his great confession toJesus, “Thou art the Christ, the Son of the living God” (Matt. 16: 16).Pass through the Valley of Tears to Chorazim, the town cursed byJesus because He did mighty works there and they “repented not”(Matt. 11: 21). Walk the streets of Bethsaida, one of the "cities ofwoe" mentioned by Jesus in Matthew 11 and where Jesus chose fiveof His disciples (Matt. 4: 18-21; John 1: 39-51). Return to your hotelfor dinner and overnight.

16 Sept (F) – Beit Shean, Kasr El Yehud, Qumran, Jericho RoadStart the day in Beit Shean, a city continuously inhabited for over5,000 years. Here Saul and his sons' bodies were hung from thewalls of the city (1 Samuel 31). The ruins uncovered date back tothe Greek / Roman city that was part of the Decapolis of Jesus' day.See colonnaded streets with marble sidewalks, Roman public baths,and a theater. Visit the Baptismal Site at Kasr el Yehud, thetraditional site of the baptism of Jesus by John the Baptist (John 1).Walk the remains of an ancient community near the shores of theDead Sea at Qumran. In the caves near here, Bedouins discoveredwhat became known as the Dead Sea Scrolls. Journey the JerichoRoad to your hotel for dinner and overnight.

17 Sept (S) – Ein Gedi, Masada, Dead SeaJourney to the oasis of Ein Gedi, where David and his men soughtrefuge from Saul (1 Samuel 23). Travel to Masada, Herod'smountaintop fortress that became the last stronghold of the JewishRebellion against the Romans. Ride the cable car to the top to explorethis magnificent site. Peer down on the remains of the Roman campsand siege ramp below. On the way back to Jerusalem, stop at theshores of the Dead Sea, the lowest spot on earth, where those whodesire may take a quick dip in the Dead Sea. Check into yourJerusalem hotel, where you will stay for the remainder of the trip.

18 Sept (U) – Bethlehem, Shepherd’s Fields, Haas Promenade, City of David, Hezekiah’s TunnelTravel to the Church of the Nativity in Bethlehem. Visit the caverevered as the place where our Lord Jesus was born (Matt. 1:18-25; Luke 2:1-7). Constructed over

Peer downWarren's Shaft, thought to have served as afresh water drawing point for the city andcould have been how Joab entered the cityand opened it to David's forces(2 Samuel5:6-8).

19 Sept (M) – St. Anne’s Church, Pool ofBethesda, Via Dolorosa, Western WallSing a hymn in the Church of St. Anne andview the Pool of Bethesda (John 5: 1-31)where Jesus performed the Sabbath miracle.Visit Herod’s Antonia Fortress where Jesuswas brought before Pontius Pilate (Luke 23:1 - 11). Walk the Via Dolorosa, and stand inreverence at the Church of the HolySepulchre. Say a prayer at the Western Wall.

20 Sept (T) – Israel Museum, Old CityUnderstand better the Jerusalem of Jesus’

day with a look at First Century Model of theCity of Jerusalem, now housed at the IsraelMuseum. Also visit the Shrine of the Book,where the Book of Isaiah, discovered amongthe Dead Sea Scrolls, is displayed. Spendthe afternoon at leisure after lunch on BenYehudah Street in the Old City.

21 Sept (W) – Bethphage, Mount of Olives,Gethsemane, Church of all Nations, KidronValley, Pool of SiloamVisit the Church of Bethpage. Continue to theMount of Olives and walk Palm Sunday roadto the Garden of Gethsemane. See theChurch of All Nations and Kidron Valley.Stand on the steps of the Pool of Siloam,where Jesus healed the blind man (John 9).

22 Sept (H) – King David’s Tomb, UpperRoom, St. Peter in Galicantu, Garden Tomb,Ramat RachelOn Mount Zion view the site of King David’sTomb. Stand in the Upper Room, revered asthe site of the Last Supper (Mark 14: 12-26).Visit the House of the High Priest Caiaphas(Matt. 26:57) where Jesus was imprisonedfor a night. Worship at the Garden Tomb(Matt. 27:33) and visit Ramat Rachel, akibbutz in south Jerusalem. Prepare for yourreturn flight.
