Panel Membership

APPLICATIONS A separate application must be submitted for each panel the attorney wishes to join along with a copy of the attorney’s most recent insurance policy face sheet. An application fee of $30 is required for each panel i.e. Estate Planning Panel and/or Elder Abuse Panel. Once the completed documents are received, the application is submitted to CANHR’s LRS Advisory Committee for approval.

REFERRAL PROCESS LRS staff refers clients to attorney panel members in rotation, according to geographical area and expertise. CANHR has the client call the attorney directly to set up and appointment.

CLIENT FEES AND COSTS Attorneys must fully discuss their fees and costs with the client before the initial consultation.

LIABILITY INSURANCE All panel members must be continuously covered by a policy of errors and omissions insurance of at least $100,000 for a single occurrence & $300,000 aggregate per year. A copy of proof of coverage is required each year to retain panel membership. You can also contact the LRS for information on insurance coverage for only the CANHR LRS.

PROHIBITION ON SALE OF ANNUITIES Member attorneys must agree as a condition of accepting referrals not to engage in the sale of annuities, financial products, or insurance products.

CANHR’s Referral Panels

Attorney Qualifications

All of CANHR’s panel attorneys are required to complete continuing education requirements to stay up-to-date with changes in California’s Medi-Cal, Probate and elder abuse statues. In addition, all approved panel members are required to commit to accept a minimum of two pro-bono and two reduced fee cases per year. CANHR’s Lawyer Referral Service maintains compliance with the California Business and Professions Code and the State Bar’s Rules of Operation.
