Take your glass sgraffito drawing skills to a whole new level in this 4 day, fast-paced, intensive workshop! You will develop new skills in visual thinking and observation, as well as gain confidence in your ability to move ideas from your mind’s eye into finished artistic compositions. We’ll be using glass powder sgraffito drawing techniques to create multiple components of drawn imagery, which will be integrated with specialty sheet glass to design and build a multi-layered, 2-D composition in glass. This intensive workshop focuses heavily on learning skills for planning

excellent composition, using glass color effectively, and developing artistic habits that will improve your drawing skills exponentially in a short amount of time. In addition to learning simple ‘tricks of the trade’ and improvised technical drawing skills, you’ll have the freedom and individual encouragement to experiment with ways to use glass to create your own drawn imagery that evokes emotion and expresses mood.

Other class topics include: Creating custom patterned collage glass and kiln-formed murrini, inclusions, etching dichroic glass, torch-worked elements, reactions, stringer techniques, achieving depth, color theory, firing schedules, and finishing. Previous fusing and glass cutting experience required.

This process uses cameo-style stencils to create stand alone wafer designs such as, butterflies, fish, birds, fruit, hearts, thunderbolts, geometric shapes, and so many more. These multi-colored wafers are created on a sheet of acetate using the Glass Tattoo® Stencil technique then left to air-dry into stand-alone designs. These versatile dried wafers designs can be arranged within an artwork in countless ways, expanding the creative possibilities for fusers of any skill level. Their formulation allows for images to dry and be moved across studios and spaces before firing.
