Levels 5 and 6

Building on the foundation already established, students continue to develop technical and musicianship skills

Technical facility is developed through more challenging exercises, including vocalises, which reinforce an awareness of distinct vowel production and musicality

Stylistic awareness continues to grow through performance of the music of the Baroque, Classical, Romantic, and Contemporary eras

Healthy vocal production in music theater and popular music is addressed through repertoire appropriate to this stage of development

Understanding of the basic elements of music theory is reinforced through a written test

The Teacher’s Associate Diploma (ARCT) in Voice

The Teacher’s Associate Diploma (ARCT) in Voice is designed to strengthen the qualifications and teaching techniques of private studio teachers.

Pedagogical ability and accomplishments are evaluated through a three-part program incorporating a performance examination, a teaching examination, and a written examination.

The Teacher’s Associate Diploma in Voice consists of three parts.

Part 1 is a performance examination and consists of:

• Performanceofrepertoire

• Technicalexercises(TakenfromLevels1–9)

•Musicianship:eartests,sightsinging

Part 2 is a Viva Voce Examination consisting of:

• A–PedagogicalPrinciples(Teststhestudent’sknowledgeoftheprinciplesofvocaltechnique.)

• B–AppliedPedagogy(StudentsperformthreesongsfromResonance™: A Comprehensive Voice Series, one each from Voice Repertoire 3, 4, and 5, and discuss relevant technical, musical, and pronunciation issues.)
