Anne-Marie, who has a false hip and knee said “I chose this route as I had my first hip replacement in Peterborough 15 years ago and a revision and knee replacement at Castle Hill last year. It was a personal goal to be cycling again after my operations. The amazing support from staff, friends and family both during my time in hospital and throughout this challenge has been overwhelming. If it wasn’t for Joint Action and the research it funds, my surgeon wouldn’t have known how to fix me!”  Katherine Fenton – The New York Marathon 2011 Katherine completed the New York Marathon in 4 hours, 58 minutes and 34 seconds which, she said was “much, much better than I was expecting”. Katherine was inspired to run for Joint Action as a number of her friends had undergone or were about to have hip-related surgery. Katherine had an amazing day and also raised an amazing £1,300 for Joint Action.  Kerrie Wright – 10k Run Kerrie ran the Liverpool 10k Tunnel Run and raised a fantastic grand total of £335 for Joint Action. Kerrie ran for Joint Action because her Dad had to have a hip replacement a year ago. Kerrie said: “The operation was a miracle; he was up walking the day after the operation, better than before. Because of this operation, I picked Joint Action as I wanted to highlight the life changing research they fund. This operation gave me my Dad back and gave him his life back.”  Pippa Anderson – 3 mile walk Pippa decided to do a 3 mile walk 4 weeks after having a knee replacement and had also previously had a hip replacement. She raised a wonderful £300 for Joint Action and got some exercise for her new joint at the same time.  Jean Davison & Edwin Walder – Summer Walks Jean completed her walk for Joint Action in July and raised a superb £123 from friends and relatives. Edwin’s walk was in June. He targeted all of his friends and raised a brilliant £90. www.jointaction.org.uk Joint Action News December 2011 How we helped Joint Action
