After graduating from the University of MarylandBaltimore County and graduating with a degree inInformation Systems Management and Economics,Jonathan Lahey began not one but two careers. Heworked as both an IT Consultant, as well as aREALTOR®, specializing in condominiums, town-homes and single family homes.

An extremely hard worker, Jonathan was able tosuccessfully juggle both jobs, but in 2008 he had tochoose which one he would continue and whichone he would have to leave behind. Luckily for thepeople in the DC Metro area of Silver Spring,Germantown, Rockville, Bethesda, Gaithersburg,Clarksburg and Potomac, as well as parts ofVirginia, Jonathan chose to continue his career inreal estate.

The decision has paid off.

Since choosing to focus on real estate, Jonathanhas consistently been ranked as one of the topREALTORS® in the nation. In 2010 he was giventhe ReMax Executive Club Award, and earned the100% Club Award in both 2011 and 2012, hasbeen designated as the top agent by the ARREPand was selected as one of the Top Most RespectedReal Estate Agents in North America.

Currently, Jonathan is the leader of a team comprisedof three agents and three assistants called The LaheyGroup located in the ReMax Town Center at ParkPotomac. Though he is quite decorated, Jonathandoes not believe his achievements or awards trulysignify his greatest assets.

“I firmly believe that the most profound assets arethe respect and trust of my clients,” says Jonathan.“I make a constant effort to improve the level ofservice I provide to my clients.”

Though he himself now specializes in listing andsecond homes, Jonathan and his team are capableof doing it all, such as assisting home buyers andhome owners in the buy and sell process, locatingpotential investment properties and giving adviseto first time home buyers, move-up buyers andempty nesters.

“Anyone can sell your house, but I’ll find you ahome,” promises Jonathan. “I guarantee that yourhome will be sold for market value or I will payyou the difference.”

Dustin and Lori Hedrick needed to sell their homequickly so they put Jonathan to the test and hepassed with flying colors.

“We had an offer the first day,” they said. “We had9-10 viewings on day two and a possible threeoffers and five more viewings signed up alreadyfor day three! This guy knows his stuff.”

George Karis’ house sat on the market for fourmonths before he decided to call Jonathan and histeam. He couldn’t believe how quickly thingsmoved from there.

For Jonathan, 80-85% of his business comes fromreferrals, so hearing that he is making a difference intheir lives makes his job that much more fulfilling.“I like helping andmeeting people,” Jonathan states.“I like to sort things out.”

In addition to referrals, Jonathan actively marketshimself and his team both in print and onFacebook, where he has 1,200 followers.

“Facebook is a great way to stay in touch andprovide instant information,” explains Jonathan.

One of the perks of owning your own real estateteam is you’re able to make your own schedule.This comes in handy for Jonathan as it frees uptime for him to take long weekends with his familyso he can unwind a bit. However, that doesn’tmean his office closes down when he is away.

“Although I can set my own schedule—there isalways someone available from our team that isready to help,” Jonathan assures.

Always the optimist, Jonathan says his goal overthe next 5 years is to continue to grow his businessand within one year, he would like to be selling100 homes every year.

If he continues on his current trajectory, he’ll getthere soon enough.
