JOSEPH JONES
The name of Joseph Jones appears in the 1835 listing of Pensioners living in Greene County. His pension
commenced April 27, 1825, age 79. This record also gives George's date of death on April 22, 1826. His
widow, Joanna, is the Pensioneer in 1835.
An abstract of the Will of Joseph Jones is found in Burgner's Will Book, page 15:
To Wife, Joanna, one cow. To son, Samuel, 7 head hogs, 2 cows and calf. To son, Caleb, $2.50, To son,
Thomas, $2.50 with one dime more. To son, Joseph, 8 hogs and $2.50. To daughters, Polly Farmer, Susy
Casteel, Sara Brumley, Anna Jones and Elizabeth Jones, $2.50 each. At Joanna's death, her property to those
who take care of the old woman. Executor: Jeremiah Casteel.

Joseph's Will was probated in Court on April 26, 1826.
Family Record submitted with Joseph's Pension Application:
Joseph Jones was pensioned at the rate of $8 per month commencing April 27, 1825, for service as a private for
2 years in the Virginia Continental line. His widow, Joanna was pensioned at the rate of $80 per annum
commencing March 4th, 1836 until her death in 1842.
