Our Time Here

It was the totally unique setting and history associated with the castle that first drew us to the property some 22 years ago now. The chance to own such a distinctive part of British History was something we just knew we couldn't pass up. Our favourite space is the living room, which we understand to have been the Armoury at one time. It's a lovely large room with a spacious yet comfortable feel, and beautiful windows looking into the courtyard. The location offers the best of both worlds; you're away from the High Street, which can get very busy during the summer, and being up on the coast road you are away from the hustle and bustle; but at the same time, you're just 10-15 minutes down the road if you want to get involved in all the events that are going on. Broadstairs has retained it's original charm as a Victorian Seaside Town atmosphere with boutique shops, pubs restaurants and cafes, while Westwood Cross (a little further out) offers all the supermarkets and high street shops you could imagine, along with a cinema and bowling alley. The beaches here are absolutely beautiful. Viking Bay and Joss Bay are popular with both tourists and locals alike, but we love Kingsgate Bay for its peace and serenity, off the beaten track with its own special history engrained in the white cliffs. Having a maritime background, to be able to walk down to the shoreline in around a minute has been an amazing aspect of living here. We'll miss so many things about living here; the proximity to the beaches, the quiet yet accessible setting, the beautifully manicured grounds, etc. ; but especially enjoying a cup of tea, first thing in the morning out on the front balcony while overlooking the channel.
