Entry 1: Social interaction

Social interaction is a relationship between a group of two, three or a larger social

group. It can occurs through verbal communication such as greeting to/by another

individuals and saying hello to each other. Besides, nonverbal communication such as

waving hand, showing smile and sometimes security guards showing salute when residents

pass by. These are the interaction between one and another. Social interaction cannot

regulated by the price mechanism.

For example, I love to been myself in a park as the environment and a vast empty

spaces let me feel freedom when I stressing out by the assignments. Unfortunately, culture

in Asia would be the key to disappoint me because people never to give responds to

strangers even though people had no mind on hurting them. However, I found a park

located in Kuala Lumpur named ‘Desa Parkcity’. At there, when I smile to the people cycling

or jogging around the park, they would react to me. Sometimes, they were the first to say

‘Hello’ to me. I felt myself had a great interaction with people around. I’m in loved to been

myself there just to observe how people interact between each other.

Next, social interaction can be occurred in face to face or through social media.

Sometimes, I can happened in playing online video games. When I was in primary school, I

was so into and addicted to video games which is Maple Story. When I first transfer from

primary to secondary school, I hardly made new friends in secondary school. I realised that

my secondary school friends actually enjoyed playing that game a lot. Hence, I got a reason

to approach them and even interacting with them. Being interact through video games could

lead me to socialise between others.

Entry 2: Social comparison

Social comparison states that we compare our own lifestyle, status, ability,

characteristic and things that can create jealousy between individuals. This mean that what

individual has on them compare to others. This can create either higher self-esteem on

individual or jealousy of others if other has something that higher conditions.

For example, in my college life, I had many of friends were not from local place and

they did not own a car. Without a car in a city, they had to put themselves into troubles by

walking to school, taking a bus or LRT to reach the destination. For me, my parents bought

me a Perdua Kancil. Although it was not a very luxury car but I felt it blessed because at least

I got a car to reach my destination compared to my friends who headache on transportation.

When I first entered Taylor’s University, I found that status was an important things.

People showed their status throughout dressing on their own such as wearing branded

items, luxury car and so on. With this kind of dressing could attracted jealousy of others but

they could boost up their social status. I born in middle income family. In Taylor’s I met a lot

of type of people. I had a friend that he loved all those branded items. When he saw a

people equipped with a branded item such as belts, spec, bracelet and so on his sight would

be attracted on those things. But he always felt that at least he got cloth to wear compared

to all those African who did not have any cloth on their body.

Entry 3: Counterfactual thinking

Counterfactual thinking is thinking about a past that did not happen. This often

happens in things that had not happened. The results and outcomes can be either beyond

our expectation or even worse. Expectation such as if I can buy a lottery number, I have a

must on winning their RM100, 000.

I had an experienced on a car accident. I was in rush on going back home so I drove

my car until 180km/h in the highway without consideration there was raining out there.

Unfortunately, I got in a car crash due to the slippery road. After the crash, in my mind

that time I was thinking that if I could drive carefully by slowing down the speed and put

more alert when driving, I would not involve in the car accident and my parents would not

take away my license and stop me from driving.

Entry 4: Motivation

Motivation is an arousal process to an individual that let them accomplish their

goal in a short time. It cannot be observe directly. People can get motivated mostly in

quotes, actions, film, speak or if the individual has a great hobby on it, he/she can be

motivated. Motivation can be differentiate to intrinsic or extrinsic.

When I was in primary school, I experienced in an intrinsic motivation through a

hobby of playing volleyball until now. I had a great dream of being international player, I

pushed myself to the max and trained my skills every day. During the tough training, I could

not find it hard but is a kind of enjoying it. My dream had motivated me and also an

internal desire to have my hand in volleyball for its own sake.

Besides, I had tried myself in extrinsic motivation. It occurred when I wanted to go

to United Kingdom to have an oversea study. It’s a sad case because I had to enrol into

IELTS exam and get a flying colours result. I forced myself on studying news via BBC, British

article, British slang and so on. I paid a lot of efforts on studying it because I want to get

passed in IELTS exam. My behaviours was motivated by a desire to get myself to United

Kingdom.

Entry 5: The ABCs of attitude

ABCs of attitude have 3 of the structure which are affective component,

behavioural component and cognitive component. Affective component is an individual’s

feelings and emotions about the attitude object. Behaviour component is the way the

attitude we have influences how we act or behave. Finally, cognitive component is person's

belief / knowledge about an attitude object. The ABCs of attitude are emphasize on the

interrelationships among knowing, feeling, and doing.

For example, I had an emergency break as I drove my car near to the car in front. It

was a rainy day, the car in front of me had an emergency break and I could not react on to

at that moment. Unfortunately, I had a crash on that car. For affective component, I was

scared for a rainy day. For behavioural component, I will not to stick too near to the car in

front and had a distance when driving. For cognitive component, I believed that the closer

the distance between my car and the car in front, the more dangerous it was.
