Sample Day-by-Day Itinerary Day 1, September 30, 2011 - USA - Italy Depart from Memphis or from your hometown for the overnight flight to Rome. Dinner and breakfast will be served on board.

Day 2, October 1, 2011 - Rome Today you will enjoy a free day in Rome to rest, relax, shop or explore. Dinner and over-night in Rome.

Day 3, October 2, 2011 - Rome Rome Free day OR optional excursion (at additional cost) Option A: Naples & Capri additional $130 per person After breakfast you will be picked up and your hotel and we will depart for Capri. Capri, situated in the Gulf of Naples, surrounded by an emerald and turquoise sea, is often called the pearl of the Mediterranean. This Island of Dreams has enchanted many people with the incomparable beauty of its rugged landscape, the mildness of its climate, the richness of its vegetation and its characteristic small white houses. Leaving Rome in a southerly direction you take the “Highway of the Sun” crossing the fertile Roman countryside and the area known as “Castelli Romani”. Approximately halfway along the highway you will be able to see the Benedictine Abbey of Monte Cassino, noted for the famous battle and its complete destruction during the Second World War. Arriving in Naples you will board the jet boat for the 45 minute crossing to Marina Grande, the port of Capri. Here you will then board motorboats to reach the Blue Grotto (if weather and sea conditions permit). Mini-buses are then used for a panoramic drive to reach Anacapri, situated at 280 metres above sea level from where you will have a wonderful view of the Bay of Naples. After lunch in a local restaurant, you will have some free time to take unforgettable photographs and purchase local products before returning to Marina Grande to board the boat back to Naples. Entering the port of Naples, don‟t miss this opportunity to admire the splendid Maschio Angioino (a fortress of the 12th century), the Certosa of San Martino and the Royal Palace. After disembarking you will then take the coach for the return journey of approx. 3 hours, back to Rome. Return to your hotel in time for dinner and overnight.

Option B: Naples & Pompeii additional $130 per person After breakfast you will be picked up at your hotel and we will depart for Naples. A journey to discover art, history, folklore and archaeology in one of the most typical regions of southern Italy. Leaving Rome in a southerly direction, we take the “Highway of the Sun” crossing the fertile Roman countryside through the area known as the „Castelli Romani‟. Approximately halfway along the highway, you will be able to see the Abbey of Monte-cassino, noted for its famous battle and complete destruction during the Second World War. Descending towards the port of Mergellina and following the coastal road, we arrive in the ancient fishing quarter of Santa Lucia and see the impressive Castel dell‟Ovo (photo stop). The city tour continues crossing the historical centre to see Piazza del Plebiscito, the Royal Palace, the Basilica of San Francesco di Paola, the San Carlo Opera House, the Gallery of Umberto I and the imposing Maschio Angioino. Upon leaving the city, we cross the fertile valley of Mount Vesuvius, passing the towns of Ercolano, Torre del Greco and Torre Annunziata before finally arriving at Pompeii, where we stop first for lunch. After that we will visit the excavations on foot with a local guide on an archaeological journey through the ancient city. In approx. 2 hours you will see some of what has been discov-ered in more than 1,700 years since Pompeii was covered by ashes during the eruption of Vesuvius in the year 79 AD. Through the remains and ruins of this ancient city, we can picture the everyday life of the Imperial Age and imagine the panic felt by the people in those last few minutes before the city was so disastrously buried. At the end of the visit to Pompeii we will return to the coach for a journey of approx. 3 hours back to Rome. During this excursion we will visit a coral and cameo actory where we will have the opportunity to admire and purchase items of this ancient craft that dates back to Greek times. Return to your hotel in time for dinner and overnight.

Day 6, October 5, 2011 - Rome (Papal Audience and Vatican Museum Tour) Wake up in Eternal City, one of the greatest centers of Western Civilization and the first truly cosmopolitan city on earth! It is also spiritual capital for all the Catholics around the world. Today is truly a day we will have in our minds for many years to come. This morn-ing we go to Vatican City to attend the weekly Papal Audience or Blessing given by His Holiness Pope Benedict XVI (pending papal schedule). Following the audience visit of the Vatican Museums, a group of most impressive edifices with hundreds of galleries filled with art treasures. See awe-inspiring relics and works of art donated throughout centuries as tributes of faith. We'll cover The Tapestry Gallery, The Raphael Rooms and the most overwhelming Sistine Chapel, Michelangelo's Masterpiece, restored mural of the Last Judgment. Later, enter the largest church in Christendom St. Peter's Basilica, built on the site where St. Peter was martyred. Unsurpassed in beauty, a monument to the long his-tory of the Catholic Church, to which pilgrims come from around the world, St. Peter's is the grandest of the world's churches. Marvel Pieta and Bernini's amazing bronze canopy. We will also visit the grave of Pope John Paul II located at the Vatican. Before dinner, we'll have some time at leisure, to explore your own paths, to shop, or just to sit in one of the outside cafes and watch the world go by.

Enjoy a breathtaking view of the Cargano Peninsula and a visit to the Grotto of Michael the Archangel. Six different popes, St. Francis and at least four other saints have knelt in prayer at this grotto, seeking the protection of St. Michael. Contained within the huge 13th-century Basilica are many of the saint's possessions and a series of frescoes depicting his life. You may kneel before the crucifix from which Jesus spoke to St. Francis, asking him to rebuild His church. It was in St. Mary of the Angels Basilica where St. Francis spent most of his life. Here we visit the Chapel, Portiuncola, the rose bush, and the cave where the saint retired for prayer. Stroll the me-dieval streets of the compact little town. After stopping at an outdoor cafe with a view of an ancient Roman temple, we go to the Church of St. Clare to see the saint's incorrupt body. reserving for them wheelchair assistance at airports and handicap accessi-ble rooms where available, however, we cannot guarantee and are not responsible for any denial of services by carriers, hotels, restaurants, or

other independent suppliers. Be aware that all of our tours are operated outside the U.S. where the Americans with Disabilities Act is not appli-

cable and facilities for disabled individuals are limited. Most transporta-tion services, including the touring motor coaches, are not equipped with wheelchair ramps or lifts. We regret that we cannot provide individual

assistance to any tour participant for walking, dining, while in their room, on flight, getting on and off motor coaches and other vehicles, or other personal needs. A qualified and physically able companion(s) must

accompany travelers who need special assistance. It is the passenger's responsibility to arrange for such assistance prior to making their reserva-

tions. Motorized scooters are unsuitable and impossible to accommodate. 206 Tours is not responsible for any medical condition that occurs prior, during or after the tour. Additionally, airlines are not able to guarantee or

provide assistance for disabled travelers including special seating. Preg-nancy, Breast-Feeding, and Travel Pregnant women considering interna-tional travel should be advised to evaluate the potential problems associ-

level of comfort may be adversely affected by traveling. YOUNG TRAVELERS Travelers who are less than 18 years old on

the departure date must be accompanied by an adult. Due to heightened security, many countries have adopted practices to prevent international abductions of children. If a child will be traveling with adults other than

the parents or with only one parent, it is recommended that a notarized letter be written by the parents or non-traveling parent granting authoriza-tion to travel including the dates of travel. We also suggest you contact

the appropriate consulate and airlines because they may have additional requirements. For the purposes of 206 Tours trips an infant is defined as

anyone who is under the age of 24 months for the entire duration of their trip. A child is defined as any one between the ages of 24 months-11 years for the entire duration of their trip.
