As the philanthropic arm ofJPS, the Foundation has theprivileged responsibility ofleading corporate outreachand serves as the vehiclethrough which employeeshave the opportunity to giveback to the nation.

JPS Foundation continues to befunded by contributions from theparent company, its employees,other partners and stakeholders.

While we focus on the goals of 2016,JPSF continues to be guided by theVision, “Unleash national growthand prosperity by being the not-for-profit partner of choice in Jamaica’sEnergy Revolution.” and the Mission,“Improve lives and empowerJamaicans through charitabledevelopment projects in EnergyEducation, Conservation andInnovation.”

We are positioning the Foundation as a foremostthought leader, educator, facilitator andimplementer in energy through focussing on twomajor goals – Serve as a leading catalyst forinnovation in Energy and Technology & Educateand drive behaviour change in Energy Efficiencyand Conservation.

What will JPS Foundation focus on in outreachactivities?The Foundation’s Areas of Focus were developedbased on the vision, mission and goals to act asguidelines for projects JPSF will consider forengagement. These are in line with the general focifor the parent company.

Each of the foci have sub categories as outlinedbelow.

The JPS Foundation is governed by a Board of Directors.

The Board members are Mr. Frank Anthony Ray –Chairman, Ms Kelly Tomblin, Mr. Tatsuya Ozono, Mr Geun Tee Kim, Mr Keith Garvey, Mrs CamilleLumsden-Dwyer and Mr. Kenroy Williams.

The daily operations of the Foundation are managed byan able team of two. Jacinth Morgan Collie is theFoundation Manager. She joined the team on January 4,2016 and is excited about the opportunities and plans forJPSF.

Prudence Higgin-Dewar, Project and Administrative Officerfor the Foundation is no stranger to the JPS family. Mrs. Higgin-Dewar is committed to the cause and readyto continue to execute.

The efforts of the Foundation cannot come to fruitionwithout the input of the rest of the team, YOU! Thank youfor playing your part and your commitment to continueand encourage others to join.

Jamaica confirmed its first case of the Zika Virus inJanuary 2016. In an effort to assist with theeradication of the Aedes Aegypti mosquitos bydestroying breeding sites, the Ministry ofEducation along with the Ministry of Healthdeclared Friday, February 5, 2016 NationalClean-Up Day for schools across the island.

JPS Foundation reached out to the devotedVOLTS team and managed to lead the clean-upproject at more than sixteen (16) schools acrossthe island. Over two hundred (200) vibrant andenergized VOLTS assisted byway of professional fogging,cleaning of drains, gullies andother waterways, clearing ofbushes, collection of garbageand identification & removal ofcontainers that encouragebreeding. Some schoolsbenefited from donations ofrepellants and informativesensitization sessions.

The new1 9 0 M Wpower plantproject isclose to its

start. This power plant will eventuallyreplace some of our older generatingunits in Old Harbour Bay. The 190MWplant will be built close to the existingPower Station, and will run onLiquefied Natural Gas (LNG) which ismuch better for the environment, andwill better facilitate the integration ofrenewables onto the grid.

As part of the project, JPS has been engaging the surrounding communitiesthat play a major role in the success of our business. Enjoy highlights fromthe recently held Plant Tours for Grade 6 students from the Old Harbour BayPrimary School.
