JSS Science and Technology University was established in June 2016 as per the noficaon of Govt. of
Karnataka under the JSS Science & Technology University Act No. 43 of 2013. The University offers 12 UG
and 24 PG programmes in Science, Engineering and Management in addion to doctoral programmes.
The research acumen at the university is of high standards with around 250 scienfic papers published
every year in peer reviewed naonal and internaonal scienfic journals.
The university has good sports facility with a state of the art gymnasium, 5 Tennis courts, Basket ball
court, a Football ground, a Hockey ground and an Internaonal Standard cricket ground. Our students
have won Laurels at University, District, State, Naonal level and Internaonal level sports compeons.
Sri Jayachamarajendra College of Engineering (SJCE) is a part of JSS Science and Technology University
which was established in 1963 is approved by AICTE and accredited six mes by NBA (Naonal Board of
Accreditaon)
Department of Chemistry was established as a part of SJCE in 1963 and it has got a excellent qualified
facules offering Masters of Science and Doctoral Programmes (Ph.D) in the area of Chemistry. M.Sc
Chemistry with four core modules of Analycal Chemistry, Organic Chemistry, Inorganic Chemistry and
Physical Chemistry. The department apart from its main tasks of involving itself in an academic teaching
and research has been also periodically interacted and established a mutually beneficial relaonship
with the nearby instuon. The state of the art infrastructural facilies, facules and experse has been
the hall mark of the department. This course is academic, industry and research oriented programme. A
good number of industries contacted for M.Sc Chemistry course. Regular teaching and research
laboratories are well equipped with sophiscated instruments to meet needs of the students.
Department has achieved remarkable progress in terms of research output. The department at present
has 15 researchers registered for PhD programme with 2 thesis submied and 3 awarded. The main
areas of ongoing research are synthec organic chemistry, medicinal chemistry, synthec
organometallic chemistry, green chemistry, nano chemistry, biosensors and co-ordinaon chemistry.
Every year the department is organizing seminar, workshops and conferences to provide a plaorm for
sciensts and industrialists to discuss for mutual benefits.
Advanced Materials plays a vital role in our lives because of its uniqueness in properes and extended
applicaon in various industries. These are the basis of modern science and technology. Advanced
Materials are at the heart of many technological developments that touch our lives and find applicaons
such as electronic materials for communicaon and informaon technology, biomaterials for beer
health care, sensors for intelligent environment, energy materials for renewable energy and
environment, light alloys for beer transportaon, materials for biotechnological applicaons and
more. In this context, a conference regarding the trends in advanced materials science and their
technology is very relevant. Hence this conference is being organized with an aim to bring together all
those who are involved in the Materials research and development.
