Franchising business with a Small Capital
Franchising is the practice of using
another firm’s suc-cessful business model.
For the franchi-sor, the franchise is an alternative to build-ing ‘chain stores’ to distribute goods and avoid investment and liability over a chain. The franchisor’s suc-cess is the success of the franchisees. The franchisee is said to have a greater in-centive than a direct employee because he or she has a direct stake in the business.
Businesses for which franchising works best are those with a good track record of profitabil-ity, .and those which are easily duplicated.
Franchising is a better option for those who would like to enter into business without sufficient knowledge, experience and skills
to start a business. This is because fran-chise companies have a proven method and system that is already working. You will be trained according to the business methods of the franchise you are interested in. As compared to many self start-ups, getting yourself a business franchise has proven to be more realistic.
The Technology Re-source Center (TRC) considered five lucra-tive ventures that Filipino entrepre-neurs may success-fully embark on with a capital of less than P100, 000. These are:

ness is one of your best and least risky bet. You could start in the business with a simple but heavy-du-ty cart worth P5,000 to P15,000 depending on the material used and how beautiful you want it to look It is al-ways wise to start on the street-level, while you are still perfect-ing your recipes and testing the market for the best price. Being ambulant, your busi-ness can safely pen-etrate some of the best locations in town without having to pay a centavo for rent.
Drinking Water Business
Some believe the profit potential in a water station business has already dried up with the mushrooming of water stations near-ly everywhere. The truth, however, is that it is easier for a smart new comer to succeed than it is for an estab-lished old timer who resists competition. With more Water Sta-tions to choose from these days, people naturally look for the best quality at a lower price. This leads un-wise business owners to think they can cut on quality and offer a cheaper price. This never works. People will always put a pre-mium on health over a few saved pesos.
Landscaping Business
Anyone with the talent and proper training for landscap-ing could start his own home based landscap-ing business. TRC’s Practical Landscaping Course includes train-ing in ornamental plant production, to give the entrepreneur a huge potential profit margin over the long term. Those just start-ing out can start it as a hobby. Later they can offer the service as a part-time business or on a freelance ba-sis. Soon they can tar-get large institutional contracts and that’s when the big mon-ey starts rolling in.
Herbal Soap Manu-facturing
The market maybe filled with too many soap products but that does not mean you have no chance of making it big. Indeed, despite the slippery competition in the pres-ence of cosmetic man-ufacturing giants, the industry abounds with small soap makers who found a profitable niche. Anyone with a
few thousand pesos can start this business. The challenge, howev-er, is to come out with a high-quality and ef-fective product not currently available to your target consumers.
Commercial Bread Making
Conventional entre-preneurs believe they must build a street corner bakery in order to start a commercial bread production. This is not so. They can al-ways sell to exclusive clients like groceries, restaurants, canteens and similar establish-ments at a premium. If you still want to go into the bakery business though, you don’t have to set it up like everyone else. There are those who succeeded selling only high-quality pandesal. Others only produce hopia, or just cupcakes or large ensaymadas and did very well. These are just a few examples but the pos-sibilities are endless.

Why do so many Filipino women (and
men) carry “Maria” in their names?
A major cause dates back to spanish times when parishes would refuse to baptize a child unless the parents chosen name included the al-lusion to the Virgin Mary. The practice resists to this day, but on a far less pervasive scale.
The symbolic name for the Philippines, Juan dela Cruz, is not a Filipino invention?
It was coined by R. McCulloch-Dick, a Scottish-born journalist working for the Ma-nila Times in the early 1900s, after discover-ing it was the most common name in blotters
The typical Filipino breakfast is not tap-silog (tapa, sinangag and itlog). It’s
kankamtuy: kanin, kamatis and tuyo.
