Beginning and Spread •Abraham is known as a founding father of
Judaism (patriarch) - he was told by God to travel to Canaan because God promised him that his descendants would create a great nation
•Isaac was a son of Abraham, he and his son Jacob together formed the Jewish religion and created Israel- they were also known as patriarchs to the Jews- the Jews believe they are all descendants of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob• When Solomon, the king of Israel died
Israel was divided in to two parts, Israel and Judah, the people in Judah were known as Jews
• In 586 B.C.E Judah fell to the Babylonians and Judah was taken into exile, the jews were conquered again in 63 B.C.E by Romans
• Later on the Jews settled in different countries treated unfairly and driven out of those countries
