JULEPTILE COMPANY

About The CompanyFounded in 2010 by Peter and Kirsten Sharp, Julep Tile Company provides classic, timeless designs handcrafted in an environmentally-conscious manner.

unique Inspired by a love of intricate textile and wallpaper patterns, our collection provides an elegant backdrop for any kitchen or bathroom. From the sophisticated Damask design to the charming Bloom pattern, our tiles and trim are available in a range of soft, earthy colors.

handcraftedEach tile is handmade in our Louisville, Colorado studio by our team of skilled artisans. From its beginnings as a freshly-pressed tile to being hand-glazed and finally fired in our electric kilns, our manufacturing process requires each piece to be touched by hand an average of fifteen times before it is shipped out to your home.

eco-friendlyEvery order is created with minimal impact on the environment. Rather than manufacturing in two firings ‒ a bisque firing followed by a glaze firing ‒ we achieve exceptional quality in a single firing, reducing our energy use significantly. Each project is made to order in the color and amount of your choosing, minimizing excess wastage. When the order is complete, leftover clay scraps are recycled allowing us to use them for the next project. Packaging materials are reused at every opportunity.

At Julep Tile Company, we strive to create high-quality, handcrafted tile that makes you excited to be in your home. We hope you enjoy our product as much as we enjoy making it.

Since our tile is pressed in sections, this requires a laborious process of masking, glazing and hand painting but the results are stunning.

Pair a glossy glaze with a satin, a crackle with a watercolor finish ‒ Our extensive glaze palette provides a variety of options and colors to choose from.

Customize any decorative pattern, field tile or trim with a glaze from our 36-color glaze palette. Our collection offers a range of shades, from the simple Glossy White to the dramatic Steel Gray. Watercolor glazes (with codes beginning in “CL”) have a translucent property with a watery, aged look, and Crackle glazes (with codes beginning in “CR”) add sparkle to any room.

Two-Color patterns are available in any combination of glazes from the color palette. Mix and match from a variety of finishes and colors for endless design options.

Usage NotesVariation in color is part of what makes handmade tile beautiful. For an evenly distributed look, please mix your tiles well before installation.

*Glazes with codes beginning in “CL” and “CR” will continue to develop cracks over time (a natural glaze process called crazing) and are not suitable for installation in extremely wet areas. Variation in color and amount of cracking is to be expected with these glazes. Stone Gray (CC 0407-1 2187) has higher than normal levels of color variation. When pairing Steel Gray (CC 0407-2 2232) with another color as part of Two-Color tile the Steel Gray will have a slightly different finish to that shown on sample boards.

Installation & MaintenanceWe recommend using a sanded grout.

Variation in tile color should be expected. For an evenly distributed look, please mix your tiles well before installation.

All installed tile should be sealed with a silicone-based sealant. Glazes with codes beginning in “CL” and “CR” should be sealed once a year as the cracks in the glaze will continue to develop.

Some wearing and scratching of the glaze surface over time is expected. Do not use an abrasive scouring pad when cleaning the tile. We recommend using a non-abrasive, non-acidic household cleaning product.
