Dear Parent(s) & Guardian(s):

The Service de police de Laval will be launching its prevention campaign “Drop Me Off At The Right Place” aimed at ensuring safety around our schools. Parents of students will be particularly targeted in order to raise their awareness. The Laval police officers will be conducting road safety operations in school zones in order to spot parents who drop off their children at unsafe places near the school. An email detailing certain guidelines was emailed on August 29, 2018. There are two phases, a Prevention Phase and an Enforcement Phase. In the prevention phase, the officers will take the time to talk with parents and warn them of an offence that has been committed and in the Enforcement Phase, the officer will be enforcing the Highway Safety Code for motorists. Looking forward to a safe year!

__________________________________________ STUDENT ABSENCES Please be reminded that it is important that you call the

school to report your child’s absence. You can call at

any time and leave a message at (450) 680-3050 ext:

7815. This will avoid you getting a call at home that

morning.

HEALTH/NUT FREE SCHOOL Jules Verne is a peanut and nut-safe school. Please check all packaging. We request parents to support this policy, as there are many children in the school who are severely allergic. Good nutrition is very important for the well-being of our students. Please provide nutritious snacks and lunches that include fruits, vegetables, proteins and grain products. Please do not send any treats to school for your child’s

birthday.

CHOCOLATE FUNDRAISER Jules Verne Elementary School in conjunction with the Jules Verne Home and School Association will be organizing a chocolate sale fundraiser that will be starting on September 17 until October 19, 2018.

Fundraising is a large part of allowing children to benefit from extra-curricular activities, as well as, enhancing the teaching experience through new technologies. Jules Verne is looking to continue investing in technology, increasing in-school activities and lowering the cost of fieldtrips.

Come on-board the Fundraising Train and don’t miss out on the participation prizes!!!!

SCHOOL PICTURES Please take note that school photos will be taken on September 18, 2018. All students must wear their school uniform! The photographer advises that students should NOT accessorize with any shade of green, as it will interfere with the backdrop.

TERRY FOX RUN & CORN ROAST This year, the Terry Fox run will be held in the afternoon on September 20, 2018. Students will be receiving pledge sheets and additional information in the coming days.

After the Terry Fox Run, the students will enjoy a fresh ear of corn.
