Julian Paltenghi studied at Loughborough College of Art and has worked as a painter and sculptor since the 1980’s. He won the Hunting / Observer Travel Award which took him to Australia in 1992, returning with a large folio of work which was later exhibited at the Royal College of Art, London.

He has travelled widely, painting in Zanzibar, Ireland, South of France, Crete, Portugal, Australia, Baja – Mexico.

As well as his painting of landscapes and still lifes – flowers, fruit – and more recently bottles and glasses, he is also a sculptor. The series of bronze dancers in this show is a homage to his father, David Paltenghi, the ballet dancer and choreographer. These bronze sculptures are cast as unique one-off pieces.

Paltenghi has held regular exhibitions in Bath, London, New York, Paris and in Australia. His awards for painting iclude the Hunting / Observer prize 1991, 1993, 1994. His work is in numerous corporate and private collections in Europe, North America and Australia including Christies London.
