Bio about Juliya Skakhulova : Born in Russia, lived in Kazakhstan between the age of 7 and 15. Then independently moved to Manchester to study art. Following this moved to London to continue her creative journey; recently completed BA (Hons) in Fashion & Textiles at University of West London. Currently doing her MA degree at De Montfort University. Changing surroundings made her learn to adapt and get along with people in order to meet goals and immerse deeply into the different social and cultural settings.

The core values in her designs are clever combinations and manipulations of

various materials, combined with classic organic shapes accenting on a strong

engineering twist. She prides herself to be resourceful on the extent to which she

goes to seek out primary and secondary sources. She enjoys the textiles side of

fashion: fabric dying, screen-printing, silk painting, experimenting with fabrics, combining different fabrics & colour

whilst thinking about the practical side of things in 3D on a body.

She believes it is crucial not only to make distinctive fashion, but also that it must be commercially viable, sustainable and aesthetically pleasing. She wants to bring confidence in her customer's self-evaluation; her design goal is to be the most refined, quirky and cutting-edge. She is particularly interested in the innovation within design, because ultimately she wants her brand to be successful with its modern desirability but also timeless and chic.

After effects

It is commonly known that our appearance has a strong influence on our self-esteem and well-being. Self-perceptions are important because they have a very resilient effect on our psychological and physical health. According to our survey, today more than ever it’s very hard to find a good quality garment which is truly unique/elegant, fits your body-shape and designed especially for you according to your personal style. We want to emphasize on the fact that nothing in our store is mass produced and everything is made-to-measure and adjusted to be customer’s “second skin”. We reject clothing which were mass produced using child labour and exploiting people in 3rd world countries and choose luxury items which would last longer rather than throw-away high street items. Alenova fashion has its basic range, so the customer can tailor items depending on their individual figure and shape. We understand every woman is different and should be cherished for this diversity.
