Percussion Camp

Students will receive intense musical training, focusing on skills used in orchestral music, Broadway shows, jazz drumming and Latin percussion.

Who should apply?

Percussion students entering grades 6-12 in the fall 2019. Groups are determined by age and skill level. It is recommended that all students have prior experience on at least one of the following instruments: snare drum, timpani, marimba/bells, or

drum set.

Lovie Smith-Wright,

Ms. Smith-Wright is

Principal Percussionist

for Theatre Under the

Stars in Houston, TX.

As an active freelance

musician, she performs

with various musical

organizations including the Broad-

way Show Across America Orchestra-

Houston, Houston Latin American Phil-

harmonic, Houston Choral Society and is

an Active Gospel Marimba Soloist.

Lovie earned Bachelor of Music and Mas-

ter of Music degrees in Percussion Per-

formance from the Shepherd School of

Music at Rice University.

In addition to being on the faculty of the

University of St. Thomas, Lovie is also

President of Local 65-699 of Texas.
