2ANNUAL TREATY DAYS & POW WOW 2017 |
BOOZHOO, ANINE AND WELCOME
Hello elders, ladies and gentlemen and youth who come to join us in celebrating our 146th Annual Treaty Day celebrations. Although we’ve been here many years before the signing of Treaty 1, we continue our age-old traditions, cultural practises, contemporary competitions and games during Treaty Days.
This year in 2017, we are hosting events such as the competition powwow, traditional dances, drumming, moose, goose and name calling just to name a few. We also wish for those to participate in the games of competition like triathlon, fastball, slow pitch, arm wrestling, mud bog and the ever-popular baby show.
Our hope is that you enjoy our Annual Treaty celebrations, our community’s hospitality, the variety of cultural activities and traditional food stands. This along with the midway rides, children’s activities, nightly entertainment, the ever-popular singing and square dancing competitions!
On behalf of the people of Peguis, our organizers and our council, I want to personally thank you for visiting our beautiful community during the annual Treaty Day celebrations! We hope your visits, participation in events and competitions are memorable ones!
Meegwetch,
Chief Glenn Hudson Councillors Annette Spence Meeches, Mary Tyler Bear, Glennis Sutherland and Wade Sutherland
