July 20, 2016 Dear Friends: News from us has been quiet since March 15th. Please forgive us. The direction of our ministry since the beginning of the year has been near to home and we are careful in sharing about this part of our life as issues of confidentiality are often involved. Emilie has had the primary role in this and has needed me in a support role. During some of the most intensive part of this for Emilie, I experienced some health issues for four to five weeks that made it difficult for me to support her and remain current with communication (i.e. re- sponding to e-mails, FaceBook messages, letters to you, etc.). If you are one of those that got slighted, please forgive me. I am desperately trying to reconnect with people. In our last letter I also mentioned squamous cell skin cancer issues that made it inadvisable for me to travel until May. We are grateful all those issues are resolved. I am now feeling very well and able to travel when it is time and the Lord permits. Update on Travel Plans In our last letter I mentioned possible travel plans to Cambodia, Cuba, and Rwanda. For some time we have been talking about needing someone to come along side us to develop a more comprehensive effort in raising funds for higher education for the children at Hope for Orphans Cambodia (HFOC). A friend from the past contacted me in early February about that, but he was not available for a survey trip until July. Over the next three months it became apparent God was radically leading his family in a direction that did not include HFOC. Recognizing that, I released him from any pressure he felt to fol- low through and he gratefully acknowledged and received that release. Emilie and I are so excited for them. The most significant thing from that initial contact was reconnecting with my friend and having an opportunity to join a small group meeting in his home. I also mentioned a possible trip to Cuba. Our primary Cuban contact, Dr. José (alias), is a well-respect- ed surgical sub-specialist, who has a vision for the vital place of radical praise and worship in a coming revival in Cuba. He believes Michael Brymer has a place in preparing Cuban worship leaders for this revival. Because Michael teaches art for the Home School Co-op, we thought a trip during his summer vacation would be likely. However, early this year, Michael began to discern that changes were coming for him and his family. After 10 years as worship leader at St. Andrews Church in Little Rock, he tendered his resignation ef- fective July 31st. The Brymer family plans to move to San Antonio, Texas by October 1st where Michael will join the staff of Grace Northridge Church. Because of this transition the trip to Cuba has again been placed on hold. For those who do not know, Michael is our son-in-law, married to our daughter, Karen. They will be tak- ing four of our seven Brymer grandchildren with them. We will miss them desperately, but truly believe this move is God’s plan for Michael and Karen as well as the grandchildren. Please pray for provision

for them during their months of transition. We anticipate that transition to affect our lives and want to keep our schedule as flexible as possible so we can help them however is needed. (A special note: Michael and Karen’s oldest daughter, Anna Carol DuBose, is expecting the first Brymer grandchild and our first great-grandchild in mid-August -a girl! Anna Carol and husband John live in Dallas.) I remain committed to developing a therapy plan for Koen, a four year old autistic boy living in Kigali, Rwanda. He is the son of our very precious friends, Pastor Innocent Kabasha and his wife, Hope. I refer you to our March 15th letter for details. Please pray with us that I will be able to learn the therapy technique sufficiently to help this dear family adapt it to their situation.

Pastor Bernardo FigueroaOn June 29th Bernardo Figueroa, pastor of Iglesia Encuentro Con la Vida (Encounter With Life Church) in Quilpué, Chile died unexpectedly. As I processed this shocking news, in mind and heart I went back to what a blessing God had given me through this man’s life. I both cried and laughed. He was a man of uncommon character and integrity: a faithful, wise, loving, venerable, gracious, unselfish, humble, tender-hearted shepherd leader. He knew how to laugh and have a good time. Bernardo understood the value of relationship. He joyfully embraced his role as son, husband, father, grandfather, brother and uncle. His role as father and friend extended to many outside his immediate family. I met Bernardo and his wife Erica in 2005 when Ruth Finley (Founder of Declare His Glory Internation-al) invited me to come with her to Quilpué. Bernardo was the South American Director of DHGI. His vision was to take teaching, training and encouragement to pastors and church leaders who could not afford to attend events usually held in Santiago and the resort city of Viña del Mar. Beginning in 2006 I was part of DHGI meetings organized by Bernardo in nine different locations from the most northern city of Arica to Puerto Montt, located at the most southern extreme of Chile - just before island groups that extend almost to Antarctica. The last time I saw Bernardo we embraced and cried together in the Santiago International Airport as I was leaving to return home. He was my friend and I loved him. The photo page with this letter is a tribute to my friend. I hope through these photos you will know him, too. Hope for Orphans Cambodia (HFOC)Our continued thanks to those of you who since 2005 have participated in providing basic necessities for the children at HFOC through our orphan sponsorship project. Although additional sponsors are always needed to cover these basic necessities, in 2015 we began to speak about another need at HFOC. When I first visited in 2005 there were 35 children - all 10 years old or younger. Pastor Im and his wife Saylan, both being educators, have long recognized a time was coming when more significant finances would be needed to provide sufficient education for these children as they grew older. Real-izing that local schools were not preparing the children to pass the national secondary exam which is required to obtain a high school certificate, in the fall of 2014 they made the decision to place qualified 8th to 12th grade children in Dambe District schools. This meant paying ‘out of district’ fees. Housing and meals during the week, transportation for the weekly trip to school and back on weekends, and private tutoring are additional expenses beyond the ‘out of district’ transfer fees. Seven students are studying in Dambe District. Em Chanda became the first HFOC child to receive her secondary school certificate and is now studying toward a B.S. in nursing at the Phnom Penh School of Nursing. In addition, three young people are enrolled in vocational training opportunities. Total budget for the 2015-2016 school year that began on November 1st is $14,280.

Previously Pastor Im covered educational expenses out of the general operating budget. However, the new commitment to higher education in 2014 made that most difficult. A gift of $3000 that came through Malachi Ministries International in June 2015 led Pastor Im to establish a special Higher Edu-cation Fund. Since that time, in addition to monthly gifts toward the general budget, we have received other gifts designated for HFOC Higher Education. At the present time there is an operating deficit of $3046.95 in the education fund. If you want to help, the enclosed/attached HFOC form can be used to designate gifts to the orphanage. OtherFor all of us life is full of surprises, twists and turns in our journey. We are grateful the Lord lights our path one step at a time. We look forward to our next steps and know He will fulfill His purpose for us. He is faithful and His steadfast love never ceases. May Jesus be ever more evident in every interaction, in every word, in every look or gesture as we yield our hearts to Him. Thank you, each of you, for your prayers and support. In grace and peace,

Jim and Emilie
