Congratulations & Welcome to the Family!

Since our last newsletter we’ve had four baptisms and we are overjoyed

about each and everyone. On June 2nd

, Wade & Stephanie Harrison’s

daughter, Maggie, and their foreign exchange daughter Antonia Ragosch

were both immersed into Christ. Reaghan Hale was baptized at camp on

June 13th

. Then, on June 15th

, Arieanna Walker was also baptized.

Congratulations to all of you and welcome to the family!

Hell

Hell has been trivialized, marginalized, and many have

attempted to discredit the reality of this eternal place of punish-

ment. Satan has been characterized as a nonthreatening menace

making mischief in a red suit. Many more Americans believe in

heaven than those who believe in hell. In a 1997 Gallup poll 72%

claimed to believe in heaven while only 56% believe in hell. Hell is

becoming unfashionable.

I have never preached a sermon series on hell. I've preached

stand alone sermons on the subject. I've mentioned hell in numer-

ous sermons where it is not the main topic. But to devote four weeks

dealing exclusively with hell seemed excessive. However, I've come

to realize that if the church doesn't spend a sufficient amount of

time addressing the topic, our understanding of hell will be defined

by the world instead of the Word.

The world's depiction of hell is almost always false. Satan is not

calling the shots in hell. Hell is not a mildly unpleasant alternative to

heaven. Demons are not gleefully handing out torturous punish-

ment. Hell is not the sick invention of a cruel God; rather it is the only

possible result of how evil could be fairly judged by a just God.

Beginning on July 6th, I will be preaching a four-week sermon

series called "What the Bible Says about Hell." I will address questions

like "How could a loving God conceive of casting someone into

Hell?" We will look at how hell is described in the Old Testament, the

teachings of Jesus and the letters of Paul. My goal is to dispel the

myths and better understand the realities of hell. Make it a point to

join us in the month of July for this in-depth study of hell.

Greetings Senior Saints! I hope this writing finds you all well and good. I wanted to let you know that the regular meeting for the Senior Saints for the month of July is cancelled. The month of July seems to be a busy month for people and some going on vacation, but we will resume on August 4th.

The Senior Saints met on June 2nd and a good time was had by all. A big thank you to our summer intern, John Horton for bringing the devotion for that day on “The Legacy Of a Father” and thanks to Don Shreffler for helping with the grilling. The Senior Saints have helped with a mission, The Nagaland Orphanage, in the past and I would like to give you an update. This past year has been a rough year for Nagaland, but this year things are looking up. They have finished the building of the boys dorm, Lilo’s other brother has married and he and his wife are coming on staff there, and Lilo and her husband are expecting their first child in October. They send thanks for our help and request we continue to pray for them as they continue minister at the orphanage. I don’t know how many of you are involved in the whole world of texting, but I saw something the other day and I wanted to share with you. They have FINALLY came up with a code for texting for us old people. NOW I can understand what they are saying.

Old AGE TEXTING CODES: BFF - best friend fell. BYOT - bring your own teeth. GGPBL - gotta go, pacemaker battery low. ROFLACGU - rolling on floor laughing and can't get up.

The problem is, there is probably more truth in these than I want to admit. Have a great day, and be checking the bulletin for more updates on our next meeting.
