So.. you've tried your best to work out the best answer for you and your family. You haven't yet experienced ionized water personally so it's difficult for you to accept many of the claims vendors are making. We make no claim to independence; we have been in the industry for almost 17 years and are inventors, manufacturers and distributors of our own natural water ionizers plus some of the latest electric water ionizer technologies. We declare our vested interest because we know there are many internet 'review' sites that are run by vendors but do not admit it. This report will follow the topics on the web page. It will also share the most common reasons people buy a water ionizer and discuss

how to fulfil your reasons best. This follows our product report below. First up...

Electric Water Ionizers.

The 4 types

1. Electrolysis The most common technology is also the oldest technology. This system uses an electrolysis chamber to split water into two streams - alkaline and acid. Electricity

is passed through the chamber, causing negatively charged minerals to go to one side of the chamber, positively charged minerals to the other.

The electrolysis process also ionizes minerals in the water, causing a negative ion effect in the alkaline water. Filtration quality varies greatly between makers. Summary: Electric, Two Streams of water. Replaceable filter. From $1200 to $7000. H2 output variable depending on effectiveness and regularity of cleaning. Usually approx 1ppm

2. Photon Exchange Membrane Systems Relatively new technology, mainly from Korea. A small amount of input water passes through a special DuPont gas permeable membrane where it is split into hydrogen and oxygen. The oxygen is released, the H2 is infused back into the

water. This system does not alkalize the water and does not waste any water. Filtration quality varies greatly between makers. Summary: usually approx 1ppm

3. Membrane Electrode Ozone Generator. Relatively new technology from Taiwan. Uses pre-purified water to generate hydrogen and oxygen. The H2 gas generated can be quickly dissolved in water to form a high concentration of hydrogen water and ozonated water. Does not alkalize the water, and produces ozonated water byproduct or in a separate

stream. Summary: Electric, Two Streams of water. No alkaline water. Separate ozone water. Replaceable prefilter required. Size may be a difficulty for some kitchens. Approx 1ppm of infused H2 depending on water source. From approx. $2600

4. Electrolysis Jug Also relatively new, made in Korea and China, these electric units use electrolysis but do not separate water into acid and alkaline streams. Designed specifically to infuse H2 into the water, its capacity equals the capacity of the jug. Some models incorporate limited filtration.

The Filtration Factor

Filtration varies enormously between different electric ionizer vendors. The vast majority offer basic granular carbon filtration. Asian water ionizer filters do not usually have US made or certified media. One large MLM brand sells multiple prefilters for their water ionizers to 'fill in the gaps' of their basic filtration. One large non-MLM has produced their own (US made) filter with excellent filtration tests results on new filters. Comparing filtration efficiency with non-ionizer filters shows that ionizer makers charge very high prices for replaceable filters. Filtration capacity is halved in electrolysis systems because almost half of the water is output as acidic water but it is still filtered. hence the requirement for filter replacement is double other units. Questions to ask your potential supplier: - Can you show me independent filter testing? - Is the testing for the estimated life of the filter?

The Calcium Problem

As discussed in our web page, Japanese electrolysis type water ionizers were never designed for highly alkaline source water or for H2 optimisation. Although they incorporated self cleanse systems to alleviate calcium accretion, it has been found that far more cleanses are needed if the user wants good H2 production. Korean manufacturers have advanced the self cleanse technology to a point far beyond the Japanese units. PEM units are not as susceptible to calcium because they do not concentrate calcium in a separate outflow. The Membrane Electrode Ozone unit relies on the user adding a prefilter. It is relatively new in the market and so we haven't been able to ascertain its susceptibility to calcium accretion. However its ozonation function ensures a high level of antibacterial protection inside the unit.

pH Water

As discussed, high pH water is produced by electrolysis water ionizers. High pH water is not strong alkaline water. PEM units have neutral pH. Membrane Electrode Ozone (MEO) units do not have neutral pH but

hold negative O.R.P. levels far longer than electric systems.

'Beauty Water' This is a marketing term adopted by soem MLm companies to describe the byproduct acid water. The acid water produced as a by product of the electrolysis systems may be used for home cleaning and disinfection (only if the water's pH is lower than pH 2.7). Far more acidic water is produced by this form of system than most people can use and so most acid water is wasted. PEM units produce no acid water and waste no water. Membrane Electrode Ozone Units can produce ozonated water which is an excellent disinfection medium. They do not produce acid water.

Ranges of water best for use.

Electrolysis units work best with alkalinity levels in input water between pH 7.5 and 8.5. The higher the alkalinity, the more problem with calcium accretion and the greater need for regular cleansing. PEM units are less alkalinity dependent because they do not concentrate calcium. MEO units use ozone to kill bacteria but rely on a prefilter to remove sediment, colour, taste etc. PEM's and MEO's will operate effectively with soft water (low mineral content) Electrolysis units will not.

PORTABLE ELECTRIC / BATTERY WATER IONIZERS Basic Principles

If you take an electrolysis system, remove the filter and instead of separating the water, allow it to remain in one place, then shrink it to a minimum, you have a portable water ionizer. They come either in small bottle or jug form, or

in stick form that can be dropped into a glass of water. (Not to be confused with magnesium sticks) Power is supplied via USB to an inbuilt battery. One charge will give dozens of uses. The unit does not filter, does not waste water, and does not alkalize. It does produce H2 infused water up to around 1.2 ppm with two 'passes' (turning it on more than once for the same water) or .6 ppm for one pass. Output is limited by the size of the container.

Water Requirements

Clean water is best. Poor water quality will shorten the electrolysis system's life.

Lifespan

At this stage, the units have not been released long enough to know lifespan. Summary: Electric, Water in container. No alkaline water. NATURAL WATER IONIZERS Basic Principles

A Natural water ionizer needs no electricity. It uses some form of magnesium to react with water to infuse molecular hydrogen into the water and to alkalinize the water. Most units are designed with filtration

media and ionizing/H2 media in the one replaceable cartridge. It wastes no water and is completely renewed in power to filter and generate high pH high H2 water every time a filter is replaced.

The Filtration factor

Filtration depends on the model. Our own system has been designed to remove or reduce fluoride, chlorine, chloramines, pharmaceuticals and heavy metals. It also has media which neutralises excess calcium.

The Calcium problem

High input water calcium levels can affect the performance of the unit, coating the magnesium media.

pH Water

Units will produce pH from 8.5 to 10pH depending on input water flow and alkaline levels in the input water.

Alkaline water

Units with calcium media will output true alkaline water with dissolved calcium and magnesium.

Ranges of water best for use.

Unlike electric systems, natural water ionizers will work in a wide range of conditions including acidic input water. Acid water will deplete the magnesium media faster than alkaline water. natural water ionizers infuse water in the cartridge all the time. 'First shot' water from the cartridge contains the highest levels of molecular hydrogen.

Summary: Non Electric, high level filtration, high level H2. Fully upgradable. Approx. $700

Ionizer Jugs

How they work

Just like a 'Brita', water is poured into the jug. It percolates through a filter and gathers in the lower part of the jug.

Filtration

The water is always filtered to the ability of the filter. Because filter media does not maintain contact with incoming water for long, its ability to adsorb or absorb or affect the water is limited.

pH water

Units that alkalize the water do so by adding alkaline minerals to their filter. This reduces filter life bit makes it capable of being sold as a 'water alkalizer'. Some vendors claim that Molecular hydrogen is produced as a result of filtration but levels of H2 are low. H2 is the smallest molecule in the world and will not remain in water that has an open surface - like a jug, so unless the water is consumed immediately

Limitations

Maximum output is restricted by jug size

Limited filter capability due to size of filter and low contact levels

Limited alkalinity

Limited and temporary molecular hydrogen production.

Limited fluoride and heavy metal filtration capability.

Many, many people contact us because serious disease has come into their lives. They may have seen a story on YouTube, or talked to friends, or done their own research. We need to point outb that a water ionizer does not cure anything. It does, however, allow you to generate a form of water that has had a huge amount of research applied to its properties with good results. We can really only quote our own health experience with alkaline ionized hydrogen rich water. We have constantly had it at home for almost 17 years. In that time the only time we ever had a cold was when we travelled in Asia and drank local bottled water. There are thousands of testimonials on the web but we need to warn you that many, many stories come from distributors of an MLM company which to us, means the story may be a bit 'excessive'.
