Construction activity for upgrades and modernization at Cypress High School will provide astreamlined parking flow and an all-new student quad design.

But it will also prevent the use of the Cypress High School parking lot during the CypressCommunity Festival.

The parking lots at the Cypress Community Center and Oak Knoll Park fill almost instantlyon the morning of the Festival, not least with spaces reserved for entertainers and vendors.(Please be nice to Festival volunteers directing traffic!)

If you arrive to find the driveways to the parking lots at Oak Knoll Park blocked off, look foradditional parking further west along Orange Ave., at the Cypress Civic Center, OxfordAcademy, or the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.

A shuttle bus will run between the Festival Grounds at Oak Knoll Park and the parking lotsat the Civic Center, Oxford Academy, and the Church. (See the Festival Shuttle Bus map onpage 8.)

Construction is also taking place at Oxford Academy. The construction includes new bandand choir classrooms, and modernization of STEAM labs, plus security fencing, cameras andlocks. This should not interfere with parking.

City of Cypress Run/WalkThe annual City of Cypress 5k/10k takes place first thing on Festival Day. For the safety of

racers, streets along the race course are blocked off — notably Grindlay St. south of OrangeAve., and Orange Ave. between Grindlay St. and Walker St.

All streets will re-open as runners clear the race course. Please be patient, and planalternate routes to arrive safely at the Festival Grounds or Festival parking areas.

Cypress Community FestivalSaturday, July 289 a.m. to 5 p.m.Attention Festival Shoppers! Browse thedozens and dozens of booths showing waresand handing out information in the Festival’sArts ‘n’ Crafts section and the CypressChamber Business Expo!

Festival entertainment highlights2Fifths plays a fun, diverse mix of

rock’n’roll covering seven decades from the1950s to 2010s. The group excels at audienceengagement — they want to ensure that theevent rocks! And one of the band membersis a Cypress High School parent — how coolis that!

In addition to the expected dozens anddozens and dozens of cars for the Friends ofCypress Recreation and Parks car show,Cypress-based Mitsubishi Motors isexpected to display one of their vehicles atthe Festival. Look for it at the west end ofthe Festival Grounds!

When this photo was taken four yearsago, Chuze Fitness had recently opened inwhat had been a Tuesday Morninglocation, and before that a pharmacy. Thatlocation on Walker St. just north of Ball Rd.is a couple of doors away from Dominic’sRistorante, a family-owned restaurantwhose owner was honored as this year’sCypress Chamber Woman of the Year.

Friends of Cypress Recreation and Parks is accepting entries for the 23rd Annual CypressCar Show, held in conjunction with the Cypress Community Festival.

The number of entries this year will be strictly limited because display space has beengiven over to a construction project at Cypress High School.

Get your entry in early! All accepted entries will receive a dash plate. Awards will be given for Best of Show (first,

second, and third place, no classes). No guarantees are made for a specific display location.
