Materials Accepted at Full-Service Drop-off Centers:

Recycled MaterialsOnly clean acceptable recyclables will be accepted from commercial sources. This includes cardboard, paper, newspaper, aluminum cans, plastic bottles and jugs with necks, Metal appliances and glass. Materials must be sorted according to instructions at the site. The County has the right to reject any delivery if that material is no longer acceptable or inappropriate for recycling.

Bulky WasteNon-spoilable items that may include furniture, couches tables, chairs, clothing, mattresses and box springs (Maximum 6 as bulky, then converts to mattress only fee schedule; $110/ton).

Household Hazardous Waste Business/Commercial entities are NOT ELIGIBLE to use the Household Hazardous Waste program due to State and Federal regulations. The County offers events throughout the year where business/commercial entities can bring hazardous materials. Contact [email protected] for information.

Construction & Demolition Waste (C&D)The waste material generated in the construction, renovation or removal of structures. C&D debris may include concrete, brick, block, wood, gypsum, asphalt pavement and shingles, metal, miscellaneous plastics, carpet, carpet padding, windows, doors, fixtures, and wood, as well as land-clearing debris.

Yard WasteMaterials such as brush, grass clippings, limbs less than 5 feet long, leaves, untreated wooden pallets, and unpainted wooden pallets. Note: Sorry we cannot accept food scraps. For additional information on food waste, visit WipeOutWaste.com.

Attention all customers...Any contractor or commercial entity, or any material delivered in a commercial vehicle, payment with a commercial credit card or vehicle providing services for hire will be charged according to the commercial schedule. This includes any vehicle with ladder racks, any external advertising or multiple visits within a 72 hour period. Materials may need to be sorted into separate bins for proper processing and disposal. The fee booth may assign stickers to indicate the weight of your empty vehicle or trailer. Payment is expected for each load unless you establish a Monthly Billing Account with Mecklenburg County. Contact [email protected] if you desire to establish a monthly account.

YARD WASTE

VEHICLE TYPE FEE ($): RESIDENTS

· Any Vehicle with less than 5–32 gallon trash bags of Yard Waste

· Any vehicle with more than 5-32 gallon trash bags of Yard Waste, but no loads piled higher than 2 feet

· Any vehicle with built up sides; loads greater than 3 cubic yards, logs over 4 inch in diameter, or any trailer greater than 8’

- 1 unit = 1 load of material* Ex: Loaded vehicle + loaded trailer = 2 units- *No vehicle longer than a standard sized pickup truck or vehicle/trailer combination with a payload quantity of greater than 3 yd3 will be accepted at the Recycling Centers for flat fee. Larger loads must be weighed to determine fee and may be directed to the Foxhole Landfill.

- Uncovered/Unsecured Loads: All fees may be increased by 50% for any and all vehicles that enter County facilities with an uncovered or unsecured load.

Vehicles using the weight scales but not using the facility for disposal shall pay a $10 charge.

- Clean drywall (not painted) is accepted at full service sites for recycling; reduced fee rates are available at the Foxhole Landfill.- Carpet and carpet padding are considered construction and demolition materials.- Maximum delivery: 10 yd3 to Full Service Facility. Larger loads must go directly to Foxhole Landfill.

Non-residential, Commercial and Business customers must pay for disposal of Kitchen Trash when delivered to Mecklenburg County Centers. Kitchen trash consists of general solid waste that is spoilable types of waste and shall not include construction/demolition debris or yard wastes.

CONDUCT AND VIDEO SURVEILLANCEPlease be aware that our staff will be courteous to all patrons. We respectfully seek the same from our customers. If a situation arises where a customer becomes unruly, curses or threatens our staff Mecklenburg County may take steps to ban that individual and company from using Mecklenburg County disposal locations. All transactions are video taped and recorded for your safety as well as ours.

*Please advise our staff if you have a potentially dangerous item to recycle such as propane cylinders, gasoline cylinders, batteries etc.
