An Action Learning Marketing Program, exclusively designed for Certificate in Services Marketing students to gain knowledge from well experienced professionals in the industry for relevant subjects was held on 07th of July 2019 at SLIM Business

School, Colombo 08 on the topic “Improve Your

Customer Service”. The program was conducted by Ms. Shyamen De Silva, Training Manager of Softlogic Restaurant (Pvt) Ltd and Manager Training for Asia Pacific regional countries under Burger King Brand.

SLIIT BOWLING LINEUP

Fifth session of Action Learning Marketing Program series was held on 21st July 2019 at SLIM Business School, Colombo 08 targeting mainly the students of Certificate in Entrepreneurial Marketing. Mr. Fazal Fausz - Managing Director at Avarna Ventures (Rainco Group) and Mr. Indi Samarajiva – Co - Founder and Director at YAMU (Pvt) Ltd addressed the

gathering under the topic “Build Your Own Brand – Lessons from Sri Lankan Entrepreneurs”.

SLIM Electro Night 2019; the DJ party organized by Sri Lanka Institute of Marketing, together with Colombo SLIM Students Association (CSSA) was held successfully on 19th July 2019 at SLIM HOME Premises. Past and existing students of SLIM from different programs, lecturers and SLIM staff took part in the event joyfully.

Sri Lanka Institute of Marketing (SLIM) steamrolled the SLIIT bowling lineup in the 2nd innings to gain a victory with 7 wickets in hand to reserve a place in the RedBull Campus Cricket Quarter finals.

Judges Brief

The Open Day of Preliminary Certificate in Marketing was held on 14th July at SLIM Business School, Colombo. The event was attended by Mr. Roshan Fernando Vice President—Education, Mr. Sanath Senanayake CEO/ED — SLIM, Mr. Dharshana Maldeniya, Senior Manager – Training, Manager & Sales Operation - MBSL Insurance and Mr. Chathura Ganegoda Lecturer —SLIM

The Inauguration of the Postgraduate Diploma in Marketing was held on 28th July at the Sri Lanka Institute of Tourism and Hotel Management in the presence of Ms. Lucille Diaz, Head of communications – Cinnamon Hotels and Resorts and Mr. Suranjith Swaris President of SLIM.

CIM open day was held successfully on 28th July at SLIM business School with a large gathering in attendance.

Effie Sri Lanka 2019 Judges briefing was held on 24/07/2019 at Cinnamon Grand Colombo.

Telesales were held on 24th, 25th & 26th July respectively.

Brand Equity Management in Digital Era was delivered by Mr. Murtaza A. Tajbhoy (Chief Strategy Officer Leo Burnett) and Mr. Ranil Nalawansa (CEO - Momentus) while Business Analytics was delivered by Dr. Tiloka De Silva and Mr. Supun Hewawalpita. The programme Customer Retention through Telesales will be conducted by Mr. Erash Fernando and Mr. Shahey Faleel.

Business Etiquette and Personal Grooming, conduct by Rainbow Institute Lanka (PVT) Ltd, took place on 1st July 2019. Staff got the opportunity to learn many valuable guidelines from the training exercise.

Induction Program were held on 28th July 2019 for PCM students at SLIM Business School Matara where course details of the Preliminary Certificate in Marketing will be distributed. Course details for PGDIP students at SLIM Business School Matara will also be handed out on the same day for the Postgraduate Diploma in Marketing.

The SLIM Educational Stall was arranged on 20th July 2019 at Galle town promoting SLIM Products.

PCM Open day was held on 14th July 2019 at SBS Kandy. Guest speaker was Mr. Sankha Wilbagedara Head of Marketing & Administration- NEO Graphics Pvt Ltd.

AGM of Kandy SLIM Students’ Association was held in 21st July 2019 @ SBS Kandy and the elected president for 2019/2020 will be Mr. Ishan Batawala.

SLIM Toastmasters emerged Champions at the 1st ever Toastmasters Debate Competition “Debate & Conquer - 2019” with the team comprised of TM. Harshan Senadira (C), TM. Hasfan Jailan, TM. Nicolas Alexander & TM. Dhananjaya Gamlath. TM. Dhananjaya Gamlath was awarded overall best speaker. Opposing the topic “Education is a Must for Entrepreneurship” the team rebuttaled arguments by a well prepared opposition team comprised of 4 Entrepreneurs themselves from Awakening Toastmasters Club.

PGDIP Open day was held on 21ST July 2019 at SBS Kandy. Guest speaker was Mr. Sudesh Herath – Segment Manager Akzonobel Paints Lanka Pvt Ltd.
