To Our Membership,
Greetings!
Just a short note to say we miss you and look forward to seeing you again when our church resumes services, now tentatively scheduled for August 1st and 2nd!!!!!!
Even though our services have been suspended, we have taken the opportunity to use this time productively in anticipation of our re-opening. Here are some of the things we have accomplished: we have cleaned and waxed all the floors and we have cleaned all the upholstery on our chairs and pews. We are very excited as we have also upgraded our computer service and our Audio/Visual equipment. In addition, we are making good progress in hiring two new ministers as was previously announced.
More good news! As of June 1st, we only had four more payments left on our current mortgage. Can you believe it? We have been so blessed. Many thanks to all of you who have given so generously to the building/mortgage fund. With your generosity, we have reduced our original ten (10) year loan to five (5) years. What an amazing God-lead accomplishment.
After we resume services, we plan to celebrate God’s blessing of being mortgage free.
For anyone feeling led to continue to give toward future capital needs we will set up an escrow account to hold those gifts.
God has blessed Fairway Christian Church with a loving, caring and generous congregation and our mission remains today exactly what it was on our first day:
Matthew 28:19-20
Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age.”
Blessings to each of you and your family,
Norm Liskey

a Zoom class. Both classes, Tuesday morning Zoom
and Tuesday afternoon at the Church, will include
discussion of the homework, a video, and will use both
formats.

This pandemic we are all living through is so confusing. One source tells us things are getting better, another source tells us things are now getting worse. The same confusing information is being disseminated by our media. Thankfully whatever we are told by our government officials or the media we are so blessed to have one constant, Our Lord and Savior is ALWAYS here for us. He tells us not to worry. We know it is difficult but he tells through Matthew 6:34 "therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own". We continue to pray for each of you every day, Please pray for us… blessings, your Elders...

Jesus on the 4th of July
We gather ‘round to celebrate on Independence Day Pay homage to our country as the children run and
play.
With barbecues and picnics and fireworks in the air The flag we own is proudly flown to show how much
we care.
The stars and stripes spell freedom; she waves upon the breeze
While bursts of colors can be seen above the towering trees.
This is all quite wonderful, we revel in delight
But God above in divine love has brought this day to light.
With just a stroke of liberty, a touch of His great hand
He gave democracy to us and helped this country stand.
The stripes upon our stately flag were touched
by His sweet grace Each star of white that shines so bright reflects His
loving face.
So as you turn to face the flag for battles that were fought
Be filled with pride for those who died and freedoms that were bought.
But don’t forget to thank the One that gives the bright
display The reason why we paint the sky on Independence
Day.
In observance of the 4th of July
Holiday, our office will be closed on
Monday, July 6.

“Lord, teach me what you want to teach me.” Trials are tests that authenticate our faith. They are painful, but they strengthen us spiritually and build our character. Right now, America is living through one of the greatest trials we have faced as a nation. Every day the news head-lines about the coronavirus pandemic seem to get worse, and fear and uncertainty are on the rise. What can we learn as a nation and individually during this time? In the Book of James, the half-brother of Jesus and the leader of the church in Jerusalem writes, “Count it all joy, my brothers, when you meet trials of various kinds” (James 1:2). God is at work in our trials. He wants to grow our character and to bless us in our season of adversity in these four ways: The blessing of humility First, trials produce humility. That’s why James called himself a servant. He writes in the opening, “James, a servant of God and of the Lord Jesus Christ … ” (James 1:1). James understood the challenges and difficulties that life throws at us. He was the leader of the early church in Jerusalem during a time of famine, hardship and political unrest, and according to church tradition, he was martyred by a mob for his faith. His example is a remarkable testimony of the humility and endurance with which we should serve God and others in the face of adversity. Trials drive us to our knees, and while it may be painful, it also may be exactly where we need to be to find relief and answers to help us through: on our knees in prayer.
The blessing of stability To be steadfast is to be immovable. It means standing strong even under immense pressure. This is what trials pro-duce in us. James writes, “Count it all joy, my brothers (and sisters) when you meet trials of various kinds, for you know that the testing of your faith produces steadfastness” (James 1:2-3). Remaining steadfast in trials is difficult because our first reaction when we experience pain is to escape whatever is causing it. But sometimes we need to do just the opposite. We need to face our trials head-on until we have devel-oped the patience and steadfastness that produces stability in our lives. God wants to bring us to the place where we don’t fall apart when bad things happen, so we aren’t crushed by a crisis in our lives. Then we will be prepared for something better and greater in our lives than we ever thought possible.
I genuinely believe that America will emerge out of this great trial stronger than ever before. We have done it in the past (think of the Great Depression, World War II or the Cold War), and with God’s help, we can do it again. The blessing of maturity When my grandson plays, things can get a little wild around the house. He shouts and laughs and he has the great-est time. But if he’s still behaving the same way 20 years from now, that’s a problem! You and I want our kids and grandkids to grow up. God wants his kids to grow up, too. But some of us aren’t growing — we keep making the same mistakes in our relationships, finances and personal habits we should have grown out of years ago. Sometimes trials are the needed catalyst to wake us up and get us going. The steadfastness that we develop during trials leads to maturity. As James writes, “And let steadfastness have its full effect, that you may be perfect and com-plete, lacking in nothing” (James 1:4). The blessing of clarity God often uses our trials to clear our thinking. When we ask God for wisdom, our eyes are opened to what he is do-ing in our life. James writes, “If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask God, who gives generously to all without re-proach, and it will be given him” (James 1:5). Now, we don’t always know why the trial is there or even where it came from, but we do get perspective. How often has adversity, be it illness, an accident, financial hardship or another crisis, reminded you of what is most important in life? Trials lift our eyes from the routine things in life we so often waste our time on and help us see the things that truly matter, such as family and faith. I’ve discovered that in life, pain is inevitable but misery is optional. It’s up to us how we will respond to trials when they come knocking at the door: Will we choose to learn to experience the blessings they can teach us?
Praying for blessings from this trial, Michael Coppock

IN EVERYTHING GIVE THANKS
It has been my great privilege to minister to and through Fairway Christian Church for the past 11+ years. I must say that in my almost 50 years in the ministry this congregation has truly been the best church Ann and I have ever served. We love every one of you and you remain in our prayers. As most of you know my recent health condition has forced me to retire earlier than I expected. During the past 6 months you folks have been showering us with your generous outpouring of love, and Ann and I are humbly grateful. As a result of your faithful prayers to God, my condition has greatly improved. I am grateful that I have been able to share communion meditations and a Bible Study through our church website during the month of June. I also wish to express my gratitude for the elders and the ministry staff here who have effectively led this congregation through the challenging months of the Coronavirus pandemic. In 2008 Ann and I stepped out in faith and followed the Lord’s leading to this community and this loving fellowship of believers. Through the years we have witnessed many commitments of people to Jesus Christ. Several of you have found a significant relationship to the Lord and to one another. And we count it an honor to be a part of your lives. Now the Lord has providentially opened up a door of opportunity for us, and sadly we will be leaving Fairway, in order to be closer to our kids and grandkids in Georgia. This certainly came unexpectedly, but the Lord has truly orchestrated it all, and we give Him thanks for His faithfulness to us. We continue to covet your prayers and trust the Lord to guide our future steps. May God richly bless you, as you continue to keep the faith and use your talents to serve the Lord and this community. As the Apostle Paul wrote: “He who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus.” (Philippians 1:6 NIV) Your Partner in Ministry, Mark
