During the month of July, the Hu-man Concerns Committee has designated WALKIN IN MY SHOES to be the recipient of our charita-ble donations. Jo Wynn, the founder, has recently celebrated 15 years of helping the homeless. She has provided Safety Kits to
homeless persons living on the streets of Kenosha. Monetary donations can be placed in the Human Con-cerns donation box in the back of church. Toiletries will also be accepted in the container placed nearby. Jo Wynn is very appreciative. She has said that “having our support means the world to her organization”. OUTREACH CENTER | CENTRO DE AYUDA
In 1989 the Outreach Center (known as the Latin American Center back then) was looking for a Parish, in the fall meetings were held to look at pos-sibilities to collaborate with local Parishes. Since permission to built their own church had been denied by the archdiocese, due to lack of clergy and finances, the Center had to look for a local parish to call Home. In early 1990 while still looking for a parish the Latin American Center was invited to share bilingual liturgy at St. Mark. Impressed with the vitality, close rela-tionship to God and family, and the rich cultural values that added to their liturgy the Center formally petitioned St. Mark Parish for collaboration! The integration process would not be complete for another 2yrs but this was the
beginning of out story here at St. Marks!
En 1989, el Outreach Center (conocido como el Centro Latinoamericano en ese entonces) estaba buscan-do una Parroquia, en el otoño se llevaron a cabo reuniones para buscar posibilidades de colaborar con las parroquias locales. Dado que la arquidiócesis les había negado el permiso para construir su propia iglesia, debido a la falta de clero y finanzas, el Centro tuvo que buscar una parroquia local para llamar Hogar. A principios de 1990, mientras aún buscaban una parroquia, se invitó al Centro Latinoamericano a compar-tir liturgia bilingüe en San Marcos . Impresionados por la vitalidad, la relación cercana con Dios y la famil-ia, y con los valores culturales que agregaban a su liturgia, el Centro solicitó formalmente la colaboración a San Marcos. El proceso de integración no estaría completo por otros 2 años, ¡pero este fue el comienzo de nuestra historia en aqui en San Marcos!

Llanas, funded a group of Hispanic women called “Hermanas Hispanas Auxiliadoras” or Helping His-panic Sisters. This group organized fundraising events that benefited the poor and those in need of financial assistance who were not able to apply for government aid due to their legal status. At the Outreach Center, and in her early career, Mrs. Santos was a huge immigration advocate for the His-panic community, she was part of the Jane Cremer Foundation for Cancer prevention and was even
the Director of the Spanish Center in Racine. Irene Santos has been a great advocate for our community and her work throughout her life has really paved the way for what we do here at the Outreach Center, we are grateful for your ser-
vice to us. Thank you
Esta semana queremos agradecer a Irene Santos, como voluntaria aquí en St. Mark, ella, y la Sra. Lupe Llanas, fundo el grupo de “Hermanas Hispanas Auxiliadoras”. Este grupo organizó eventos de recaudación de fondos que benefi-
ciaron a los pobres y los necesitados de asistencia financiera que no pudieron solicitar la ayuda del gobierno debido a su estatus legal. En el Centro de ayuda, y al principio de su carrera, la Sra. Reflecting!on!today"s!Gospel!reading!from!John!brought!immediately!to!mind!the!words!of!a!song!that!we!have!sung!in!the!past.!The!story!of! the!multiplication! of! the! loaves! and! fishes! is! well! known! to! us;!we"ve!heard! it! since!childhood.! !As!mature! (or!maturing)!Christians!we!need!to!know!it! is!more!than!a!wonderful!story!of!a!miracle.!As!baptized!followers!of!Christ,!the!story!has!many!implications!for!us.!!!Think!for!a!moment!of!the!generosity!of! the!young!boy! in!offering!his!barley! loaves!and! fish:!he!gave!up!his! food! for! Jesus!to!share! it!with!others.!!Likely!it!was!his!principal!meal!of!the!day,!yet!he!surren-dered! it! for! the! good! of! the! community.!While! the! feeding!of! five!thousand!people!with!five!loaves!and!two!fish!may!seem!impossible,!in!the!unity!of!the!Spirit!it!was!achieved.!!Proof!of!�plenty!of!bread!to!share�!was!in!the!twelve!baskets!of!leftovers.!!The!disciples,!too,!had!a!role!in!this!miracle.!!They!were!instructed!to!have!the!people!sit!down,!help!with!the!distribution!of!the!food,!and!lastly,! gather! up! the! fragments! that! remained! after! all! had! been!fed.!!The!crowd!was!told!to!be!seated!and!those!who!sat!down!were!fed;! those! who! accepted! and! obeyed! the! commands! of!
