Independence Day Prayer

Dear Lord, There is no greater feeling of liberty than to experience freedom from sin and death that you provided for me through Jesus Christ. Today my heart and my soul are free to praise you. For this, I am very thankful. On this Independence Day, I am reminded of all those who have sacrificed for my freedom, following the example of your Son, Jesus Christ. Let me not take my freedom, both physical and spiritual, for granted. May I always remember that a very high price was paid for my freedom. My freedom cost others their very lives. Lord, today, bless those who have served and continue to give their lives for my freedom. With favor and bounty, meet their needs and watch over their families. Dear Father, I am so thankful for this nation. For all the sacrifices others have made to build and defend this country, I am grateful. Thank you for the opportunities and freedoms we have in the United States of America. Help me never to take these blessings for granted. Help me to live my life in a way that glorifies you, Lord. Give me the strength to be a blessing in someone's life today, and grant me the opportunity to lead others into the freedom that can be found in knowing Jesus Christ. In your name, I pray. Amen.

Gospel Reflections Matthew 11:25-30 The love Jesus speaks of is a self-sacrificing love that knows no bounds when the good of the other is at stake. No bound, not even ones’ life. Jesus’ command of love requires of us no less than dying to ourselves. We must let go of all our own pretensions, become meek and hum-ble like Jesus and serve others. In everyday terms this means that we always seek God’s will in our lives. This isn’t always easy, because our natural human tendency is to seek our own good. Just as Jesus came to do God’s will and brought salvation and peace, so when we do God’s will we extend salvation and know peace. This is knowing God!

Glen Hurlburt, Scott Sylvester, Zachary Harrises, Jack Amico, Nicholas Ragone, Eric Egdorf, Todd Egdorf, Joseph Diener, Almighty God, We recommend to your gracious care and keeping all the men and women of our armed forces at home and abroad. Defend them day by day with your heavenly grace; strengthen them in their trials and temptations; give them courage to face the perils which beset them; and grant them a sense of your abiding presence wherever they may be; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

Dear Father, What is the Church ruling on cremation? Does the body need to be in church for a funeral mass before-hand or can the ashes be present at that time? Is a funeral mass the usual or does a memorial mass serve the same purpose? Dear Inquisitive, Your questions in regards to cremation have become common in the past few years. It used to be that the Catholic Church did not recognize cremation as an option, but that has changed. Because the Church believes in the resurrection of the body at the time of the Second Coming of Christ it has set a certain amount of guidelines for cremation. Every effort has to be made for the body to be present in the church at the time of the funeral. If cremation is the choice of the deceased, then the body should be cremated after the funeral liturgy. The Church understands the burden that this guideline imposes on families and thus understands that the body could be cremated prior to the mass, yet this is not the favored plan of action. In no case should the ashes of the cremated body be dispersed, they should remain in an urn and be buried in one location, just as a casket must be interred. Because the Rite of Christian Funeral is one that has three steps to it: the vigil (also known as the wake,) the Liturgy, and the Committal, the cremation of the body postpones the Rite of Committal for several days. Again in no case is the urn containing the cremated remains to be kept at home for any length of time. Once the body has been cremated it must be interred. As to your question regarding a funeral mass versus a memorial mass, if one is to follow the Rite of Christian Funeral a funeral liturgy is expected (either mass or a liturgy without Eucharist). As the present situation worsens, in regards to the clergy shortage, more and more funerals will be funeral liturgies without Eucharist since it does not require a Priest to be there (a lay person can lead such a liturgy). As to the difference between a funeral mass and a memorial mass; the prayers of a funeral mass are different than those of a memorial mass. Yet we certainly recognize that any mass offered for the repose of a soul bears the same fruits. Anyone having further questions regarding planning their funeral should contact me or the Consolers ministry directly at the office so that we may address the specifics. Father

What to Expect When Returning to Public Mass

Various steps are needed in order to protect what has been gained over the past few months, our respective freedom from the Covid-19 virus.

Masses are being celebrated on: Saturday at 4:00pm,

Sunday at 8:00am, 10:00am and 6:00pm.

Because of the remaining constraints identified by Church, civil, and medical officials, strict adherence to these will regulate participation at Mass. The number of those apt to attend is identified by the ability to provide the 6 feet social distancing guide-lines. To reserve a spot for any of these Masses please call Linda Lambert at 622-6510 (Monday through Thursday between 10am and 5pm; Friday between 10am and 12pm). Outside of these times, NO RESERVATIONS WILL BE ACCEPTED. Linda will indicate to you where you must sit in church, the only exception will be for handicap parishioners and those who accompany them. This will mean that you will not be sitting where you normally always sit! When you come for Mass, please use only the doors at the handicap entrance or the entrance by the sacristy on Lovering Street. All other directions will be provided at the celebration of Mass. Please remember that if you are older than six (6) you are obliged to wear a mask to come to Mass, and sanitize your hands on the way in and on the way out. To reduce the risk of exposure and contamination all pews and door handles will be sanitized after each Mass. Mass will continue to be recorded and posted on the parish website at www.saintpiusxnh.org. Therefore, should you not feel well, should you have been exposed to the virus, should you have cared for someone who suffers from the virus, get well soon, and you can still join us via the means of modern technology. There also remains the option to come receive Communion after the celebrations of Masses on Saturday, from 9am to 9:15am and from 11am to 11:15am on Sunday. When using this option, please wait until all Mass attendees have left the church and an usher lets you in. Only use the handicap ramp entrance and follow the directions provided by Father de Laire when you are there. Remember to wear a mask, no entry will be allowed if masks are not worn.
