From the Desk of Father Kurt “For it is in weakness that I am made strong”

I have come to find that these words of Saint Paul have also been true in my life. In my life I have had the tendency to compare myself to others, which always made me feel inadequate and inferior. There were always others that were stronger, smarter, and better looking than I was. When I became a priest I no longer was too concerned about these things, but I still compared myself to those around me. Even as a Priest I sometimes find myself judging myself in comparison with other priests. No matter how hard I try, there will always be others that are holier and more caring than myself. Thank goodness Jesus doesn’t want us to be the best. No, he just wants us to be the best we can be. Lately, I have been able to allow the feelings of inadequately and inferiority to give way to the peace of Christ. There is no need to compare ourselves to others, for we are all in this together. We all have different gifts and talents for building up the one body of Christ. One man’s weakness is another man’s strength. Let us accept ourselves for who we are, and place ourselves at the service of God and others.

As they attend this conference, please pray that each individual will be greatly touched by the love of Christ and return with a greater desire to live for and serve the Lord. May their witness be an inspiration to future attendees!

Called to Serve? Each year we are in need of individuals willing to share their belief in Christ and His bride, the church as a catechist for our faith formation program. Please prayerfully consider if the Lord is calling you to this very rewarding and important service. We are all called to be missionaries but we don’t always have to go to a foreign land to share the good news of the Lord.
