This program is designed for field personnel with experience operating equipment or for those

who want to learn the basics of backhoe operation. Students will receive hands-on training conducted in a safe environment. Topics covered will include: equipment inspection, safe moving and operating procedures, safe excavating procedures, loading procedures and excavation techniques.

Certificate for Safety Managers (COSM)The newest addition to the growing number of safety management programs in the Certified Occupational Safety Specialist (COSS) family, COSM is an advanced, executive-level safety program consisting of 40 hours of training. Once students have completed all five sessions and meet the prerequisites, they receive the COSM credential. Topics include: Essentials of Safety Management; Strategic Planning & Evaluating for Safety Success; Managing Risks; Communicating the Safety Message; and Preventive Measures & Post-Accident Management.

Confined Space - Permit Required for Entrants, Attendants, Competent Person & Entry Supervisor

An intensive two-day (16-hr) program designed for persons who encounter confined spaces

and/or permit-required confined spaces at their workplace or job-site. This course is designed to supply participants with the technical information and skills necessary to recognize, evaluate, and control the unique health and safety hazards encountered with confined space entry work. Topics include: regulatory review, elements of confined space programs, confined space identification and evaluation, permit information, hazard recognition, atmospheric testing, hazard control (ventilation, cleaning and purging, fall protection and retrieval systems, non-entry rescue, etc.), personal protective equipment, and entry equipment. Includes a hands-on session using tripod, brake winch, full-body harness, and

Forklift InstructorThis professional training program covers all areas of lift truck operation, maintenance and

safe practice. HAZWOPER 8-hour Emergency Response Annual Refresher

This one-day (8-hour) course is designed as a refresher training course for those individuals

who have successfully completed the initial HAZWOPER Emergency Response courses (First Responder Awareness Level, First Responder Operations Level, Hazardous Materials Technician, Hazardous Materials Specialist, On-Scene Incident Commander, and First Responder/Receiver for EMS). This annual training is required within one year of the initial certification. This courses discusses and reviews changes in Federal and State regulations as well as relevant, upcoming legislation. In addition, developments in state-of-the-art practices and technologies, as well as key aspects from the initial training are discussed. After completion of this annual refresher course, participants will have their certification extended for an additional year. Prerequisite: Certified completion of the appropriate initial HAZWOPER Emergency Response course.

HAZWOPER 8-hour First Responder Awareness Level (FRA)

This one-day (8-hr.) program is designed for individuals who are likely to witness or discover

a hazardous substance release. This course provides the required training so these individuals may initiate an emergency response sequence by notifying the proper authorities of the release. Topics covered in the course include: hazardous materials and the risks associated with them; potential outcomes associated with an emergency incident; hazmat recognition; hazmat identification; the role of the awareness level individual; site security and control; Emergency Response Guidebook; additional resource needs; and, communications. HAZWOPER 16-hour First Responder Operations Level (FRO)

This course is designed for personnel who respond to releases or potential releases for the

purpose of stopping the release. They assume a more aggressive role and will approach the point of release in order to stop the release of a hazardous substance. Topics can include: emergency response plans; classification, identification, and verification of materials; the Incident Command System; PPE; hazard and risk assessment; advanced control, containment, and confinement methods; decontamination; termination; and, basic hazmat chemistry and toxicology.

HAZWOPER 24-hour Hazardous Materials Technician

This course is designed for personnel who respond to releases or potential releases for the

This course is designed for personnel who respond to releases or potential releases of

known, unknown or high risk hazards and are expected to perform duties that require the highest level of protective equipment (Level A). Qualified Rigger and Signal Person (QRS)This course is intended for workers who are working with equipment during lifting operations. Subjects to be covered include the components of rigging, rigging connections, inspection of rigging equipment, wire rope, slings, and hardware. The signalperson portion will include hand signals, voice communications, and basic crane operation. Upon successful completion of both practical and written exams, the student will receive a laminated wallet card stating that they have demonstrated the skills required by both federal OSHA and Cal/OSHA.

OSHA 30-hr Cannabis – CAL/OSHA

unique, curriculum-based program that builds a solid foundation in both General Industry (CFR 1910) and Con-struction (CFR 1926) knowledge for the beginning safety practitioner as well as the experienced safety profes-sional. COSS meets the requirements outlined in ANSI Z490.1 – Criteria for Accepted Practices in Safety, Health, & Environmental Training Standard.

The course consists of 40 hours of hands-on, instructor-led learning, delivered by OSHA-authorized trainers. The course is designed to equip workers with the core com-petencies they need to succeed in occupational safety and health.

Case studies and workshops are used extensively to bring learning objectives into focus. Student presenta-tions, daily quizzes, practical reviews and a compre-

competencies in the class. By learning how to promote safety on a jobsite, COSS graduates will have the knowl-edge necessary to help lower fatalities, near misses and OSHA citations.

Key to the program is the COSS Model, which focuses on four steps to providing a workplace free of recognized hazards. It enables newly appointed safety and health representatives to reach a higher level of understanding. Many experienced safety and health professionals who have completed the COSS class have used the COSS Model to successfully manage their safety processes.

This course is designed for individuals interested in teaching the 10- and 30-hour construction safety and health Outreach Training Program. Using OSHA Construction Standards as a guide, this course places special emphasis on topics which are most hazardous.

This course allows the student to become a trainer in the OSHA Outreach Training Program, to conduct both 10- and 30-hour Construction Outreach classes. Students who wish to participate as authorized Outreach trainers must prepare a presentation on an assigned topic, and successfully pass a written exam at the end of the course.

OSHA 502 – Update For Construction Industry Outreach TrainersThis course provides an update on OSHA Construction Standards, Policies, and Regulations. Participation in this course will further develop effective adult learning principles and interactive training techniques to clearly identify, define, and explain construction industry hazards and acceptable corrective measures.
