Message from the President

Jeff Cristee Club President

I am extremely proud of Meridian Hills and our members. The support we gave the Western Junior Golf tournament was fantastic and the event was a huge success for all involved. Our club received tremendous praise from the participants and the WGA. There are so many people to thank:

Jim Hess and the entire maintenance staff: What a great job they did preparing the course for an incredible tournament.

Jack Barber, Michael Bembenick and the entire golf staff: They helped run a flawless tournament and insured our guests got the full Meridian Hills treatment.

Steve Roper, Chef Joe and the clubhouse staff: Managing the logistics of all the players and their families and insuring all were fed and housed in lockers as necessary was a big undertaking. Great job by all.

Wade Rademacher, Mary Sue Higgins, & Mike Semler: These three worked tirelessly to secure the necessary volunteers for the tournament. Without reservation, the WGA reported we had the best core of volunteers they had seen in recent years. Wade is a director of the WGA and was our tournament lead.

Tom Meeks for serving as the chief rules official.

Our caddies and caddie program. We supplied the caddies for over 20 participants. It is great to have a group of well-trained caddies that represent the club so well.

Brebeuf Golf Team: We hosted a match between Brebeuf and Carmel this year when there was a conflict with their home course. Upon hearing that we were short 30 volunteer shifts, Brebeuf golf members volunteered to cover all the shifts. It was great to have them out here last week.

I am sure I have missed many people, but lastly, would like to thank all of our members for your generosity and support of Junior Golf and the Western Golf Association. We are so lucky to be a part of such a great club that makes a great impact on our community.

The season is now in full swing! I look forward to seeing you at the club.

OUR NEWEST ADDITIONOur biggest congratulations to

Scott & Allison Duskowho welcomed Morgan Elizabeth into the world on May 6th, 2013.She weighed 7lbs even and was

I would like to echo Jeff Cristee’s comments on the job Meridian Hills CC did on hosting the WGA ‘Western Junior Championship’ the week of the 17th – 21st. The WGA officials, Board, players, player’s families, coaches and recruiters were extremely complimentary on the job done as a whole for this event. The membership should be very proud for the club and themselves for kindly giving up their course and practice facility to be the host site for ‘the oldest junior championship in the country’. Some of these kids will be seen on TV someday, as one broke the course record, with a 63, and the winner compiled a -13 score to win!

Jim Hess and crew, Jack Barber, Michael Bembenick and staff, Chef Joe and the clubhouse staff, thank you for all your efforts in making us proud to be a part of Meridian Hills!

As the months go by the dining venues are getting busier and busier. Some evenings are becoming more and more difficult to manage as a result of ‘walk-ins’ and takeout orders. The kitchen cannot produce the quality product the membership has come to expect when a maximum number of orders are taken within a window of 1 hour to 1 ½ hour. Service suffers as well.

Our first priority must be for those who made reservations. Walk-ins may periodically be asked to wait for a period of time before being seated. To go orders may be periodically delayed in order to give the kitchen adequate time to prepare existing food orders properly. While this is a good problem in some ways, we want all members, their families and guests, to enjoy a relaxing and pleasant experience. Thank you for your understanding as we work through these periods of heavy member usage. As always our goal is to make the club the best it can be!

Poolside CookoutsWe have Friday night poolside cookouts

every Friday night at the pool from 4pm - 8pm.

We will have a full bar and special items from the grill. Come enjoy our Oasis frozen drinks and new additions to the menu.

Make plans to spend your Friday nights at MHCC.
