ductors (#2-750 MCM). It is aluminum, has removable swinging doors, penta-head bolt and meets all the require-ments of ANSI C-57-12.28 for pad-mounted equipment. This unit now com-pliments previous designs that accom-modate a smaller number of conductorsand are smaller in size (32"w x 16"d x51"h) (36"w x 30"d x 44"h) (25"w x24"d x 44"h). See your Resco rep formore info. This unit is ideal for situationswhere a utility does not want contrac-tors inside of their three-phase trans-formers.

American Polywater has createda new adhesive that will bond PEPVC, Fiberglass, Metal and Compos-ite Duct couplings & sweeps to eachother. It creates airtight and water-tight splices and bonds within an hour. The bond is able to withstand move-ment and vibration. Order "Bonduit."

In response to customer demand, Milbank has developed a pedestal for use attrailer parks or for utilities that are positioning meter pedestals next to URDtransformers. Many REC utilities have begun to install meter pedestals at theunderground transformer. It is up to the homeowner (and hired electrician) torun the secondary cable to the house. The homeowner retains ownership of thesecondary run. This new procedure dramatically reduces the labor to install anew service. No multiple calls to connect a temporary and then permanent con-nection, just one permanent connect. No secondary run to the house throughdifficult to plow fill and construction debris. No calls for secondary cable failuresdue to dig-ins, this now becomes a customer problem. The pedestal is availablewith different size breakers (100, 125, 150 and 200A), a pad mounted kit withhardware, and stabilizer feet. Rated 120/240V single phase, three wire, ringlesswith horn bypass. The pedestals can also be ordered as a double for multipleconnects. See your Resco rep for full details. Additional contacts at REC's em-ploying the new procedures are available.

Industry Update

The EPA has proposed extending the compliance dates for SPCC plans (SpillPrevention Control and Countermeasure). The new proposed compliance datesare August 17, 2005 to amend the plans and February 18, 2006 to implementthe plans. IRST products required to comply with many of the requirements areavailable through Resco.

Hubbell has introduced a line of au-tomatic guy dead-ends. Equivalent toMaclean Power System dead-ends,the automatics provide for a super-fast installation of a tamperproof guywire connection. Available for 1/4, 5/16 and 3/8" guy strand. The 5202has a larger yoke and is made for allgrades of strand including alumaweld.

Hubbell has redesigned their heavy duty arresterlineup (PDV series). The redesign has an improvedisolator which results in more reliability (will dis-connect as low as 1A), a new protective cap andhigher temporary over voltage (TOV) curve (com-petes with gapped arresters). The new design willdisplace the current design beginning 10/15. AllHubbell part numbers will change. The Hubbell ar-rester continues to utilize the same sealing systemand polymer compounds.
