BUSINESS MANAGER'S REPORT ….Chris Wagner

Sisters and Brothers,

I would like to thank: the election judge and tellers for ensuring that our local

union elections ran smoothly; the out-going officers for their service to the Lo-

cal; and all of the recent candidates for office for their commitment and willing-

ness to serve their Local. Our Local could not function without the hard work

and dedication of these fine sisters and brothers.

Since no member ran for the office of vice president, President Price has de-

clared that this office will be vacant as of July 17, 2015. The Local 520 Execu-

tive Board, empowered under Article XVI, Section 16 of the IBEW Constitu-

tion, has declared that they will fill this position at the next regular Executive

Board meeting on August 4, 2015. If you are interested in serving as Vice Presi-

dent of Local 520, please make plans to attend the August 4, 2015 meeting

of the Executive Board to be interviewed for possible appointment.

We are excited to roll out our new email system provided by SALSA. The

membership voted to use the SALSA email program in order to be able to get

out information to our members promptly and more efficiently so that we are

able to cut down on paper waste and mailing costs. In addition to periodic up-

dates, we will also be emailing out the Trail Blazer Newsletter in the very near

future. Please make sure to open these emails and if you stop receiving them,

please make sure that the emails are not in your spam box. We also promise not

to send out more emails than are necessary.

We have also launched our newly updated website! You can access it at the

same website address – www.ibew520.org.

The fifth Object of the IBEW is:

”To Secure employment,”

This object will determine our future. Securing employment for our members

in reality is dependent many issues. Productivity, efficiency, education and

training are only a few of these issues. The IBEW has always viewed itself as

having the best electricians in the industry because of our Training Program,

our JATC. Its primary purpose is to educate and train the future workers of

the industry. As new technologies and construction applications are intro-

duced into our trade, those who are educated and trained will be the most

marketable employees of the future. Assuring them and the IBEW a success-

ful and profitable future.
